A special call out to Tom for being a wonderful guide and my kayak buddy. Very well organized and the bbq dinner was superb, especially after all that paddling. The walk up was relaxed and nicely paced. As it was an overcast day, I was almost certain we would not see the sunset. Was happily chatting away when Tom called us. So happy I did not miss the beautiful sunset view and the beautiful night view of Auckland from Rangitoto.

Our group of 8 did a kayak excursion to Brown's Island. It was originally booked for Rangitoto but modified for safety reasons after the cyclone. The excursion included some free time on the beach, a hike and a delicious bbq lunch. Our guide Rosie was excellent and totally in her element!!! Her knowledge and great sense of humor made this the highlight of our visit to Auckland!

This afternoon I enjoyed a one hour private lesson followed by an hour's freedom rental. The booking process was simple and Nic was super helpful arranging everything that I needed. I was welcomed warmly on arrival at Mission Bay. The briefing was thorough and the equipment, ready for me, was in excellent condition.
A fantastic hour spent one-on-one with Nathan. A true professional who knew his stuff and knew how to get the best out of me. I learnt heaps and have plenty of tips to improve my paddling.
A great way to enjoy this beautiful corner of Auckland.

Booked a kayak for hire, drove to out to Mission Bay and waited but no-one showed up. No answer on phone or email. Several hours later they responded to my facebook post that it was cancelled due to weather. They said a mass email had been sent out, but we didn't receive one. Having paid in full and supplied all contact details I would've expected more effort to communicate with customers.

Nic and Auckland Sea Kayaks were amazing. We had an exceptional experience in the Cavalli Islands. Nic’s experience, technical skills and group management expertise combined to ensure that we all felt confident, up for a challenge but never overwhelmed. The Cavalli Islands were beautiful, the equipment totally up to standards and we had perfect weather. 10/10

Absolutely highly recommended.
The kayaking to Rangitoto is good to do, for anyone who as an average health/ sport condition. And the hike is easy, even considering that there are a few stairs at the last part of the hike.
The view is amazing, especially during sunset.
Kayaking at nighttime is something you really what to do once in your lifetime.

We booked a 1/2-Day Trip to Motukorea Island with Auckland Sea Kayaks via the i-Site in Auckland. They are offering a transport from Auckland central into St. Heliers as well, in our case we didn´t needed that one. But good to know :-)

When arrived at the beach our guide Nic was waiting and prepared the Kayaks already. Nic told us that we are the only one today (off-season, autumn is coming) - Yeah! Private tour :-) for us!

Moreover, Nic told us very useful background information about Auckland, the volcanic islands as well as the Maori Myths which is really great and not often done by guides in that depth.

Overall Auckland Sea Kayaks is offering reliable, well maintained equipment and is very professional! They know their job! 100% recommended!

Really fun to paddle with you yesterday. Autumn producers some amazing, calm and stable paddling conditions and yesterday was a prime example. Its always nice to kayak to an island, climb to the top and see which part of the city you are staying in and learn a bit of history about the area. I'm born and bred in Auckland so its nice to show of my backyard to other people. Have a great time in South America.

I will start by saying that I was very excited for this trip. I planned and paid for it several months in advance - primarily due to the rave reviews found here which is why I think it's only fair that I leave my review now. On the morning of my trip, I got up early and walked from my hotel to the designated meeting spot at Auckland pier. The instructions told me where to meet but never gave me a time, so around 8:30 AM, I called to verify the time for my pickup. I was told by the gentleman who answered the phone that the trip had been cancelled due to bad weather and he thought this had been communicated to me - which clearly it had not. They had both my email and phone number, and I had access to both during my trip. I will say that he was apologetic and quickly refunded my money, however it left me scrambling at the last minute for something to do. I ended up catching the ferry to Tiritiri with only a couple of minutes to spare. And while I can certainly appreciate how The weather can affect such a trip - the day was lovely, the waters appeared calm, and I witnessed several people kayaking around Tiritiri. This left me feeling like they cancelled me because I may have been the only guest they had for the day and I was too much bother. I don't know if that's the case, either way, I was very disappointed.

Lori, Once again we apologise for dropping the ball and failing to contact you in regards to the poor weather forecast. Our systems have been reviewed to prevent this happening in the future. As Auckland is the narrowest part of New Zealand it is always hard to predict what is going to happen with the weather. We rely on the government's marine weather forecasts which read for your tour on Wednesday: Southwest 15 knots rising to 20 knots in the evening. From experience, we expected the wind to pick up on your return from Rangitoto island - which can make the crossing back to the mainland more difficult. Once again though, we do apologise that our system failed and we are happy that after our conversation on Wednesday you got to head out on the water.

My wife and I booked the sunset kayak to Rangitoto Island in March of 2015. It was without a doubt an incredible experience far more than just a kayak trip. We are not experienced kayakers, but were able to make the paddle across the channel without issue. Just FYI, there were 9 in our group and 2 guides. Once on the other side, our guides Vinnie and Nick provided a respectable BBQ. They also had a special meal for my wife (a vegetarian). After a quick bite, we took an hour climb to the top of Rangitoto. We also took a quick side excursion and were able to crawl/walk through a lava cave (maybe 50 feet long) that was one of the most unique activities of this whole trip (Make sure you get to do this. Ask about it, but you have to be quick enough kayaking over so you can make the top of the Island before dark). We spend about 20-30 minutes on top watching sunset over Auckland, then walked back down in the dark (with lights), and paddled back across to the beach. We met some great folks, and our guides were super friendly and helpful throughout the whole trip. Great Activity for the evening. Highly recommended.

The 2 day discovery tour with Auckland Sea Kayaks is an incredible way to experience Auckland from the Hauraki Gulf - visiting browns, Motuihe and Rangitoto islands. Excellent food, great gear all included in the price. Nics extensive knowledge of the Auckland area was fantastic and made the trip very interesting. It's a great trip, I had a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.
