    Stunning Church
Attended daily Mass here. Absolutely beautiful church. Not quite as large as other Cathedrals but none the less stunning. Amazing stained glass capturing the light even as the large buildings surround the Cathedral. Nice comfortable grassy area outside with seating to step away from the busy city bustle. Across the courtyard there is a Catholic gift shop that is full of items for all ages. Spoke with a non Catholic who visits the Cathedral daily to gain some inner reflection. Daily Mass at 12:15 p.m. allows Catholics to attend during the midday.

    Great Building
The cathedral of St Patrick and St Josephs is the home of the Bishop of Auckland was built, replacing earlier stone and wooden versions, in 1907. It is quite plain inside with a vey open Nave. There is a small fountain/stream running off the left hand side of the alter. The stained glass is very good, especially on a sunny day

    Historic old cathedral
Such a peaceful beautiful church to have a quiet time in the middle of busy Auckland city. Admire the stained glass windows. NZ is a young country, but this is a bit similar to the European cathedrals. Light a candle and sit and reflect. If you are feeling generous, leave a donation. The restoration was expensive.

    Spiritually Uplifting
Upon our arrival to Auckland from the US we wanted to give thanks to our Lord for getting us there safely - St. Patrick’s Cathedral is so welcoming and spiritually uplifting. We lit a candle as well in memory of our parents and in thanks for watching over us in our travels.

    LOVE
Stumbled upon this as I walked to the Sky Tower. Hidden gem. I stepped in to light a candle and say a prayer. I ended up staying for a glorious mass. It was a celebration of love in observance of St. Valentine's Day. Beautiful cathedral of St Patrick and St Joseph.

    Unimpressive church
Since we passed by the church we decided to have a look into the cathedral. It is actually a nice church but nothing special

    Beautiful church!
One of the most beautiful church in NZ! Located next to SkyTower in the CBD, parking might be a problem but there are plenty paid parking available near by.

    Architerural delight
A place worth visiting for its architerual beauty. The high ceilings gives one a sense of how old buildings used to be built. The coloured glass holy pictures on the sides are worth a look.

    Lost Amongst the City Landscape
A pity that this rather splendid building is hemmed in amongst the city office block zone. Inside the simple layout and furnishings are untypical of the Catholic Church, (and the better for that). Some nice colourful stained glass is worth observing, and simple displays chart the relatively short history of the cathedral.

This cathedral was right near our hotel - so we took a peek inside. It seemed quite small given that it sat on an entire block. Rather plain inside.

The Cathedral of St Patrick and St Joseph (most folk seem to omit St Joseph) is located right in the middle of Auckland City, so - apart from the roadworks which abound in Auckland - is easily accessible, and well worth a look. It is open all day, and visitors are welcome. Midday Mass is at 12.15PM, so go then for spirituality or other times for architecture. Wood roof structure is a characteristic of large NZ churches; grape vine on North wall traces back to the first vines grown in NZ (introduced by the Church for altar wine) Priests' home; and outside North transept grass picnic area. See inside Church for displays showing contributions made to NZ by early Catholic missionaries; in particular, Bishop Pompallier and Sister Aubert. Bishop Pompallier contributed much to NZ in our formative years.

Attended two Ordinations in August. Tremendously moving experiences on both occassions. Catholic Church pagentery and religious experience at its best
