We only briefly visited Taupo and then drove around the lake on our journey out of the region, it is made for waterspouts of all kings and also provides accommodation to suit everyone's needs from camping through to the best hotels, no wonder the roads around here get clogged with everyone trying to get to the lake. Would like a... More

Whether you are a water baby or a land lubber, Lake Taupo is an impressive sight. The lakeside walks are tremendous and there are plenty of places to stop for refreshments.

Lake Taupo is a large lake surrounded by mountains, it is lovely to visit and tarry awhile. Plenty to do around the lake whether you are just passing through or staying a few days. Eating and drinking places are easy to find.

My partner and I spent a weekend in Taupo. Very nice little town with amazing views, lots of cafes and restaurants, plenty of activities and not far from Rotorua.

Such an awesome place to visit this town has everything you need in a holiday destination and if you are after more peace and quiet drive along to the next bay or the bay after that you are sure to find the right spot for you along lake Taupo.

What an amazing country, and what an amazingly beautiful town. Lake Taupo has snow covered mountains in the background? The greenest of green forests surrounding it, and thermal springs popping up everywhere. I've never seen anything like it. Beautiful 😊 Highly recommended.

We stopped briefly at Lake Taupo as part of a bus tour. The lake was beautiful, bigger than you can imagine, and very peaceful. Plenty of activities you can do around the area, although we didn't have time to stop for long

Spent 2 days with family doing all the touristy bits which are all so close by. We stayed close to the lakeside in a motel. We went on the pleasure cruise to the see the carvings, the waterfalls, the prawn catching park, honey place, even used the float plane for a trip around the lake. Loved it all, recommended.

Our arrival was in pouring rain and it was still a beautiful sight A lovely place to visit and this lake in an extinct volcanoes Caldera is something to see. Lots of quality choices for motel style accomodation right on the shore line in Taupo and many of the connecting small towns and villages. A reasonable selection of eateries and... More
