We had 2 lovely days here on our trip round North Island. It has a real laid back feeling but there is plenty to do. There is a path around the lake which is great for runners and cyclists. Definitely come back!

Lake Taupo is a great place for all kinds of holidays. On the northern side you have much more activities to do and restaurants to eat. However personally I love the southern side as it is quieter with a more beautiful view. It really depends on what you like and how you plan the trip. It is very versatile with... More

I couldn't think of a better place to live. there's noethinf better than being on the water front on a hot summers day! There's plenty to do on the water, and around it. Great place for tourists and travellers !

Lake Taupo is beautiful and a great sight in Taupo. We took it further and decided to kayak on the lake which was lovely . Right near the Lake is a place called "Lake Fun" and they have reasonable hiring prices. Highly recommend.

Lake Taupo looks like a sea. Gentle waves lap the shores. It is stunning from every angle and in all weather. Local residents are very fortunate to have that view!

This lake is like a slice of Europe south of the equator! The scenery is fantastic and there is plenty to do. We will return!

I have been coming here for 40+ years. The Great Lake has so much going on it is hard to know where to start. We swim, ride, fish, camp, eat, skydive, fly gliders, go bungy jumping, go to the racetrack, meet family and friends and generally relax and unwind in this high, huge lake area.

We visited Lake Taupo on Jan 27th, 2016. We drove to the lake coming from Matamata and decided to first have lunch at the Lakehouse Taupo which overlooks the Lake. We had great meals there. We then headed off on a little road trip around the whole lake. We drove up to dessert road plateau where you get a brilliant... More

Taupo is one of the better places to visit in New Zealand, you will need money as most things cost, but the memories you take home are well worth the money you spend
