A Cathedral of beauty
Apr 2021
I had visited some years ago but a first for my wife. Beautiful structure in the English Gothic Revival style and dating to 1879 and consecrated in 1888. Since then there have been various additions, the Tower in 1902, Burt Memorial Hall in 1948, Soldiers Chapel in 1923, West Gallery and new organs in 1993. All additions are blended beautifully with the original structure. Internal treasures include the Baptismal Font, Statue of St George, the Pulpit of Normandy stone, the High Altar, and the Brass Eagle Lectern. It would be remiss of me not to mention the magnificent stained glass windows. Above all, it is a place of worship, a place to stand a while and reflect.

unique cathedral with a small chapel especially dedicated to those who fought in the Great War. Unusual leadlight glass windows.

Beautiful detail throughout
Sep 2020
We enjoyed a walk through the almost empty church and felt welcome to explore. The floor has recently been polished and the leadlight windows were beautiful. I love when old churches have open doors and we can wonder in and enjoy the beauty and peace.

Pioneering Anglican church takes you back in time
May 2020
When the first St George's Anglican Church opened in 1845, there was not much of anything in Perth except sun, sand and sore eyes. The current cathedral has a certain primitive grandeur. Dedicated in 1888, it is built of Perth brick. The best feature is the ceiling, built of local timber. St George's is unpretentious, it is built of whatever materials were available, mostly red brick. It is hard not to feel nostalgic about St George's, it has been in St George's Terrace for as long as most Perth people can remember.

Stunning
Nov 2019
This is a beautifully built Cathedral in the heart of Perth, with wonderful surrounding gardens. The outside of the Cathedral is stunning, and the inside just as stunning. However, wouldn't say it is the best Cathedral around, but is definitely a wonderful place to visit, to really appreciate the true beauty of the building. There is masses held at the Cathedral regularly, if you are religious and would like to participate in a service, however, would still recommend visiting even if you are not deeply religious. Overall, wonderful building.

You don't have to be religious to appreciate the beautiful architecture and wonderful organ pipes or to feel peaceful if you sit for a few minutes reflection.
This viisit was even better, on a night the whole building became alive with a projected Christmas story.
Awesome!

Brief Visit only is needed

Worth a visit if in the vicinity, not worth going out of your way for as Cathedrals go. Impressive building from outside, felt it was somewhat featureless inside, very little inside that enables you to learn about the history.

I like the weather as it is a windy day. Green grass and clean as it can be seated on it. Beautiful interior design as well as architectural design. Great photography spot.
