Most people have never been inside Government House, it's a bit of a mystery. It houses the Governor of the State of Western Australia. I have been inside on several occasions, it's a fine Victorian-era building, made of red bricks.

Built in the late 1800's, it is an oasis amongst all the skyscrapers. Great grounds. Great views from the manicured gardens.

Government house has an interesting history and it's best left to be told by one of the local City of Perth tour guides. You can't actually access the inside of Government House (unless you're invited), but you can take pictures.

The garden is beautiful, some parts date from 19th century. Nice historic building, fine architecture, friendly guards.

This is typical of all Government buildings in that taxpayers pay for the construction and maintenance, but are restricted from accessing this building. Whilst there are tours and open days, these are few and far between. Considering how little activity the Governor does these days...More

The lovely historic building facade can be viewed from the street, and worth a stop on your downtown walk. Located close to the river and Elizabeth quay. Thanks for the vote if you found this review helpful.
