Where to start with visiting Northbridge? Depends what you're after. Fantastic art gallery, brilliant library, pubs (I like Brass Monkey), bars (Mechanics Institute with fabulous mural by Kyle Odgers-Hughes as you walk down the lane), both upmarket and more $$ than I could afford, cheaper...More

There are nice restaurant's in the area. Also speaks high on its tunnel. It was not clean at all. Also we were with children & did not look good walking. Suspicious characters around.

Dirty, smelly, unkept and a feeling of be on your guard at all times are what comes to mind when I have the misfortune of having to traverse Northbridge. It is true that are some nice eateries but for us it is a place to...More

Northbridge is officially Perth's Chinatown with its arches and Chinese restaurants, but I believe more appropriate would be to call it Asiantown because you have food from all over Asia packed into this district. In addition to Chinese, you can find Korean, Japanese, Malaysian, Thai...More

Need advice - first solo trip (10 Replies)
Hi all. I’m plannnig a solo trip next month, for 5D4N. I’m thinking of going to - rottnest island - swan valley winery or cindery - Fremantle prison - caversham wildfire park - Northbridge Is it too much to cramp 5 places in 5 days? And where should I stay that is affordable and convenient to travel to the places that I want to go?

Are you using public transport or will you have a car? Without a car you will struggle a bit with the Swan Valley and Caversham as they are not well served by public transport. A taxi or Uber would be the next best option. Be aware that the weather may not be conducive for a trip to Rottnest. I would suggest not booking anything until the day, when you can better see what the weather looks like. Rottnest in the rain is not a lot of fun. You should have plenty of time for your proposed...More

Langley Park playground safe in evening? (5 Replies)
My family (including 2 young kids) will arrive in Perth in the evening, and we'll be staying in (I believe) the Northbridge section of Perth for a night before we head down to Margaret River. I am trying to figure out if there is a playground we could let the kids play on for a bit after dinner and saw there is a small one in Langley Park. Would this be a nice spot to visit in the evening? And if so, anyone know of a kid-friendly restaurant we could visit first that is nearby? If this idea...More

Where are you staying in Northbridge? After dark I would probably not recommend parks unless the area is very well lit - there is a play area with fountains.in the pavement right in the centre of Perth city in Forrest Place called the Labyrinth that they might enjoy, depending on their ages. There are also places to eat nearby. I would always supervise children in parks anyway. Early evening at this time of year its still light until 7.00 - 7.30ish. Hyde Park East Perth at corner Glendower...More

Hello Fester That is on the outer edge of Northbridge, just. Diagonally opposite is Rosie O"Grady's Pub. Across the road is Russell Square and on the other side of the Park (Square) is also Apartments. Further down on the same side as Russells is Black Betty's night club, I am no good with distances, would say 150 metres away. Then you are only a short hop to the middle of Northbridge with its plethora of restaurants, bars, clubs and hotels. It could be noisy late on Fri and Sat nights....More
