We stopped by the Perth Mint while on a tour with the Perth Explorer (hop-on and hop-off bus). Over there, we booked a guided tour and walk through the history of the gold mining in Western Australia. The highlight of the tour is the live demonstration of gold pour.

We visited the mint on a whim and arrived just in time for a free tour. Our tour was conducted by Danny, a gold pourer, who was excellent and presented well to a diverse group of tourists and local school children. Only a short tour and a small museum (partially under renovation) but it was well worth the hour's visit.... More

This is a must stop when visiting Perth. Australian coins from the mint on display as well as a facility to buy coins & jewelry. They will also buy gold. Interesting to have a look through.

The Perth Mint was a very informative, sophisticated and historic tourist location. Touring the premises is reasonably priced and it includes views of large gold nuggets, a movie experience and watching a gold pour which is fascinating. You can even work out the cost of your weight in gold! Good for adults and children of school age alike. Great gift... More
