The War Memorial is a tall obelisk which can easily seen from the city of Perth. It includes an Eternal Flame and Roll of Honour. In both World Wars, the contibution of Western Australia far outweighed its small population. In World War I, the 10th Light Horse Regiment particpated in many heroic actions in the Middle East The War Memorial has one of the best views from Kings Park across the Swan River.

The State War Memorial is beautifully kept. On the way from the city you can take time to stand in silence for a moment to honour our fallen soldiers.

This imposing Memorial consists of many parts; - the 18m high central obelisk, walls surrounding the crypt and including the Roll of Honour, bronze plaques to the various services, the Court of Contemplation and the Flame of Remembrance central in the Pool of Reflection. It truly is a place for silent reflection and perhaps a prayer in honour of all commemorated by the Memorial. Shame that some disrespect the Memorial and see it only as an opportunity for a selfie .

As part of our recent visit to Perth we had to visit the popular Kings Park which includes the Botanical Gardens and the War Memorial.

The War Memorial is a stunning tribute to our past and present service people and surrounded by beautiful lawns. Like Melbourne's War Memorial, this also has the 'eternal flame'. The memorial overlooks the Swan River/Elizabeth Quay area.

Definitely worth a visit.

This was my third time I was there. When getting closer to the War Memorial, I felt the absolute silence and surrounded became strict. I felt deep condolences to the brave souls who sacrificed their lives to gain the peace for today in Australia where I live. We thank you.

People come here for the views. Respect for the names inscribed is somewhat lacking. We found that disrespectful.
