The Buddha Sanctuary at Cable Beach has received some loving TLC over the past few months with a new decking platform, shaded new entry area, landscaped gardens and a sacred rock pond on its way.

The space has also recently transitioned to be known as the Blue Body Buddha Sanctuary - linking it with a well-established meditation and wellness centre, the Blue Body Spiritual Centre based in Perth, WA. Despite the change of name, the Buddha Sanctuary remains closely connected with Cable Beach Club Resort and Spa and offers daily yoga classes for resort guests and locals.

Spending quiet time at the Buddha Sanctuary is a must for anyone visiting Broome. Established more than 10 years ago as a space for the local community, the Buddha Sanctuary is home to a 4 metre tall, crystal Buddha that harnesses the energy of Buddha Kuan Yin (goddess of Mercy and Compassion). The Yoga Pavilion, open decking area and ornamental garden offers visitors a special space for quiet reflection, meditation and relaxation.

The Buddha Sanctuary is open from 7am - 10am and 4pm - 7pm on most days.

Yoga classes are currently held Monday to Friday (6am & 7.30am) with an additional evening class at 5.15pm on Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays.

Just a short visit is required not a lot to take in. The crystal Buddha is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, so we were told. If you are up early they conduct yoga classes around 7am in the large under cover meeting area in front of the Buddha. Small garden area it's very tranquil.

I attended a class with my mum (32yr and 60yr) as we were staying across the road. We are semi regular yoga attendees and this was the best class we had done in a while. Clear instruction, great structure to the class. Will try to squeeze in another class before we head home. Cannot recommend highly enough.

50+ not very flexible female accompanies her 19 yr old daughter to yoga classes - doubtful at first, by the end, loved every moment of Kaya's classes. The Buddah area is lovely but yoga held in a veranda area with lots of help and support was the highlight of our trip. 90 minutes. Each day different. Spectacular setting, reasonable cost.great... Cable beach is well known for its long & spectacular beach. Over recent years there's plenty of places to choose from to stay -- but if you are looking for a nice place for yoga & meditation then check out the Buddha Sanctuary

What a wonderful way to start the day in Cable Beach! Helen who to me is a world class yoga teacher takes you through a different practice every day. All equipment is supplied and I just wish now that I'd donated more than the 'gold coin' expectation. Just beautiful. Thank you all. Buddha's Sanctuary so handy to Cable Beach Club... More

I did 10 classes at the Buddha Sanctuary during my stay in Broome and enjoyed them very much. Great instructions and a nice choice between Iyengar, Vinyasa flow, Pranayama and meditation classes. Great class for beginners and the teacher gives options so that is great for if you like and are ready to go to the next step in a... More
