About
The Horizontal Falls are a fast-moving tidal flow through two narrow, closely aligned gorges of the McLarty Range, located in Talbot Bay. The the intensity and direction of the flow reverses with each change of tide. As tides in the Kimberley can reach 10 metres, a peak tide gives rise to a significant difference in the sea level on either side of each gorge. Travelling by land, air and sea - Horizontal Falls offers full, half day and overnight tours to experience this natural phenomenon.

Seaplane trip to Horizontal Falls is expensive but well worth the price. It would be expensive to run the operation in a remote area with 1 hour 20 min plane trip each way. The scenery on the plane trip up is good Kimberley landscape with the coast providing a very interesting ever changing environment.

On arrival we tied up at the house boat had a lunch of barramundi and salad which was ver enjoyable. The staff there the fed the Tawny sharks to get them close some people climbed into the cage to get an underwater view. After that we went in the boat to the falls and had several runs through each fall the skipper knew what he was doing and it certainly felt safe but was also a bit on the edge. He let the current drag us back into the second fall which is the narrower one we were doing 13 knots to remain in the same position.

At that point the skipper said it was getting to the limit of safely going through at about 1m between the water level each side.
Enjoyable

We did this tour on Sept 1. It was the morning tour so got picked up at 5.20 at our accommodation. We transferred to a sea plane at Broome airport for the 1 hour flight to Horizontal falls.
We had a very smooth landing on the water very close to the pontoons/houseboats.
After watching one of the Crewe members feed the local sharks that come in for a feed, we were served with a bacon and egg breakfast, very delicious.
We then boarded our fast boat for a scenic cruise around the waters and into the mangroves before heading of the the falls.
It was an amazing, thrilling ride back and forth numerous times through the falls by a very skilled captain of our boat.
The flight back took about an hour and 20 mins as we flew over the falls and then via Cape Leveque. Scenery was stunning
The trip was worth the quite expensive cost, are we glad we did it? Absolutely! We would thoroughly recommend to anyone who is thinking about do this.

Fabulous overnight stay at the Horizontal Waterfalls. The lovely Tonia flew us from Derby to the Horizontal Waterfalls. All the crew were very professional, fun & helpful. The fast boat ride was brilliant followed by an informative tour through Cyclone creek, Taj and Bryne our boat skippers were skilled operators and keen to answer all of our questions. Caitlyn cooked a gorgeous barramundi BBQ and Jayde an amazing breakfast the next morning. Couldn't believe how busy it was with planes arriving yet the young girls on board always made sure we had plenty of great fresh food. We were able to take our own champagne and drinks which at the end topped off a perfect day out, the Kimberley stars are magnificent!

Accommodation onboard was simple yet functional, very comfortable and the air conditioning was amazing to keep up with the heat of the outdoors. From the scenic flight to the falls (thanks to Tonia our Pilot) to the jet boat ride and Shark feeding it was all run very professionally and without fault.

It is little wonder the tour is so highly recommended as a "must do" on the Bucket list. Many thanks to the wonderful crew and team for such a wonderful overnight stay.

What an experience! One you will never forget! The flight on the seaplane between Broome and Horizontal Falls was breathtaking. You get to see Cape Leveque and the Buccaneer Archipelago which was amazing! Once you land near the pontoon you board a boat which takes you through Horizontal Falls. The driver of the boat said he drives the boat like he stole it and he wasn’t kidding (you feel totally safe the whole time). You experience the Horizontal Falls in the best possible way. After the Horizontal Falls boat trip, you go back to the pontoon for a delicious lunch followed by a few other activities for the day before a relaxing flight back to Broome. It is a bit expensive but you can see why when you the tour. The staff are professional and organised, ensuring your day runs smoothly. After the tour you forget about the $ and remember the amazing day you had. Go for it!

Bucket list, just do it! An early departure at sunrise in our seaplane from Broome airport took us up to the Horizontal Falls where we did a few circuits over the falls before landing on the Bay. The tour depends on tidal movements so is flexible in the order you do things but included an excellent breakfast before the exhilarating boat rides through the narrow passageways a number of times! All the Horizontal Falls team members were exceptional in every way. After departing this magnificent place we landed on the dirt strip for our visit to Cape Leveque, Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm for a tour and excellent Barramundi lunch before departing on the longish four wheel drive bus trip back to Broome. A sensational day out and well worth the price. I should mention that other tours do the bus section in the morning and the flight to the Horizontal Falls and return flight in the afternoon, but whichever way it’s a must do tour!

What an amazing 24 hours, seaplane to the pontoon then a helicopter flight over the area, it was high tide.
Then back on pontoon for morning tea and after everyone had done the helicopter e went to our accommodation for lunch and to settle in Hailey, Tom, Ash, Leah & chef looked after us.
The next was a shark swim opportunity ( people in cage sharks in open water) while Tom gave us a talk on the area and what happens there.
Then out for the fast boat ride to the horizontal falls (couldn’t go through due to previous accident and investigation) but Hailey got us as close as possible on the run out tide.
Then off for some fishing with Adrian and I caught 2 nice fish ( others also caught some and a shark that was released) that we had cooked up for entree at dinner.
Awesome chef and staff, Ash, Leah and the food was amazing.
The houseboat accommodation was excellent and had just been refurbished 2 months ago, don’t have take anything as towels, toiletries were all provided.
Early morning sunrise cruise up the creek to hear the history of the area by Hailey then back for breakfast and our last boat ride to the falls to see the tide going the other way.
This is a is a must tour if coming up here nothing else I have seen or done matches the amazing trip.

Wonderful scenery and the boat ride through the wide gap exhilarating. Unfortunately unable to traverse the narrow gap because of tidal differences but great to see such a drop in water levels.
Meals very disappointing........fish , boiled potatoes, green beans and coleslaw that ran out half way through service and many missed out. Could have been so much better and should have been given the price paid! Cheese & nibbles platters also sparse given the number of guests on board. Could easily offer complimentary wine and beer (even if charging a little more) rather than guests carting on board from Derby. No bath towels provided for showers! Communication re pick up arrangement from accomodation a shambles....received my text message 30 minutes into the flight out to the falls!! Derrr ..... already flying! The staff were fabulous but the “on board” experience let the whole tour down for us. Not bang for our extensive buck!

Dear Julie, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback and for your time on the phone. We were disappointed to learn that your experience did not meet expectations. We have spent a lot of time and focus on improving our product offering and as such, we take your feedback on board. With regards to the alcohol on board, we are looking into this as an option, but need to still go through the regulatory approval process. Once again, thank you for your feedback. Lori

Everything about this trip lived up to or was better than our expectations. Our first seaplane trip was very smooth, culminating with the smoothest landing ever. The jet boat experience was great, exciting without being scary. The horizontal falls lived up to expectations which you can judge for yourself from the accompanying photos. The shark feeding was interesting too, but I wouldn’t bother with the shark cage.
Staff were universally excellent, friendly, helpful and informative.
If you’re in Broome, it would be a shame not to do it.

This incredibly FULL DAY tour from Broome was one of the Highlights of our trip in the Kimberleys. 5.30am start but breakfast ( only just ok) provided at the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. Fascinating tour & history of the pearl farm . Then a stunning seaplane flight over islands and over the Horizontal falls landing smooth as can be near a floating pontoon in Talbot Bay. There we were transferred to a fast boat for the exhilarating thrill ride through the first of the Horizontal Falls - the second being too dangerous. Wow and stunning scenery.
Once back on board the pontoon we had a scrumptious bbq Barrimundi and salad buffet lunch before going off on the boat again for a closer look at some of the surrounding bays and creeks. Back from this, there was time for a swim in a cage with sharks swimming nearby which was another thrill. Plenty of toilets/changerooms. After that we flew directly back to Broome and bus dropped us back at our hotel. An amazing day with wonderful professional staff - totally safe . If you do nothing else in Broome don't miss this. Worth every penny.

Staff are friendly. Food was delicious. The flight was scenic. The horizontal falls ride was fantastic, and the skippers were informative and ready for any questions. The shark feeding was also good, but considerate to not overfeed, so as to not encourage dependancy.
