Streeter's Jetty is a must whilst in Broome. Just recently opened, after extensive renovations, we went twice but both were at low tide which we managed to see the red crabs with one large claw.
The second time, our timing was great that we saw two planes flying very low overhead as they were about to land at the airport. It was a sight to behold as they looked as they were going to crash in Chinatown.
It would have been an awesome sight when at full tide but time was not on our side to plan the exact timing to be there.

We came here to check out Streeter's Jetty, after finding a place to park and walking here. Sadly it's currently closed, and limited signage explaining why. Perhaps they are doing a complete rebuild, but it's always disappointing to come to an attraction, only to find out that it's shut, especially in the middle of peak tourist season.

This place is barracaded off and cannot be visited, so don't bother right now. They are doing major works around town but not sure why this is closed?

This a a bit off the beaten track, but do take a walk down to have a look. The jetty was built in the late 1800s to help transport pearl shell from the water up into the town. It is a very pleasant stroll down over the turquoise water.

Very short jetty but well worth the little walk to see the clear water and mangroves and to feel the history of Broome.

It is strange to walk along this fairly short boardwalk as it thrusts out into the mangroves, and think of the large numbers of pearling luggers that used to tie up here, and the various town activities that occurred in the area. This and the surrounding area are best viewed while using the phone app developed by locals, called "Jetty to Jetty" (available free on Playstore). It is a great little app, and brings the area alive.

Get the Jetty to Jetty app. This has a guided tour of the important landmarks of Broome with reminiscenses of locals. Truly great way to spend 2 hours walking Broome.

Streeters jetty is the old jetty Broome pearlers used to use. Even though now a days there is mangrove surrounding it back in the day the weren’t any. Best time to visit this place is when the high tides are at their climax. Jetty gets covered in water and it looks like if you are walking on water.

this is a jetty that was used by the pearlers and when you go there at low tide there is no water around it there is heaps of little crabs walking around but come back a couple of hours later and you will see just how quick the water comes in
