This mountain is not a molehill!

When looking at the mountain from the car park, it didn’t look like a challenge at all. All of this changed about 2/3 of the way to the top when suddenly there was no indication on how to proceed. We tried here and there and eventually found the way. So, you need to somehow hop up onto the big flat round smooth boulder, which is not marked. And from there on in it gets tougher. Very very steep sections, dangerous cliff faces with drop offs. Narrow crevasses, which you need to squeeze through. Watch the wind! Definitely a big no no on wet days!! A fantastic climb. Wildflowers galore. Abundant bird life. Fantastic views. And a true sense of achievement making it up and especially down. We promise we will never return and thank you “Dearest Mountain” for not killing us!

A natural wonder.

Do you like getting off the beaten track? Jump into your 4x4. Grab your swag/camper. It is only 40km off the highway along a reasonable dirt road except for the last few km - a bit corrugated/rough. (Not recommended for an ordinary car but doable.)
Camp area has a few flat spots set out to set up camp. Aussie dunnie - drop toilet of the composting variety. No drinking water - so BYO a must.
Climb to the summit is marked and interpretive signage is informative. View from the top is expansive. I only made it about 1/3rd up and know that the last bit to the top can be a bit of a challenge. Disappointed that this is the first peak that I didn't go all the way!
Camp over night and enjoy the quiet, the sunset and the morning light on the Peak.
Warning - not recommended for inexperienced drivers not familiar with Aussie dirt roads - take a local!

Endless bush and outback views
Apr 2015 • Couples
Its 4wd to get here, once here this rock outcrop rises high out of the plains and really is asking to be climbed.

The view is one of bush with bits of red rock and dirt as far as the eye can see in all directions. You really are in the middle of nowhere!
