Great night, pretentious crowd

Nice wee venue and a fantastic performance on the stage, marred only by a few folks in the crowd being annoyed at our group having a good time and being louder than whisper levels.

"Best Jazz Venue in Melbourne" only if you like standing between the bar and against the wall of the bathroom entry surrounded by pretentious jazz connoisseurs. An hour after the show started the lady at the door did not stop more patrons entering the venue already overcrowded and we were slowly pushed further into the actual toilet. There was no... More

Hard to find jazz club. Almost missed it. Only for google maps i would have walked right past it. Feels like a speakeasy. Went on a tuesday night so less crowded. Very small venue so feels very relaxed. Music was great, people in audience getting up to jam. Really good night out in melbourne if you just want a few... More

Hard to find tucked down a side street and with a door that doesn't open until it's time, this small jazz club attracts some well known names and some talented emerging artists. If you really want to get in make sure you book.

Laid back. Unpretentious Reasonably priced. Local talent sugar foot ramblers for $10. Only knock is that they finished at 11. We should have gotten there earliet

Must say I did love the artist I went to see for a special occasion in January But highly disappointed in the fact myself and other friends had to sit very uncomfortably on steps / on floor up the back when each guest there paid the same amount per ticket. For those with injuries (me included) this made for a... More

I had heard of Bennett's Lane years before being able to visit, as I was living in Tasmania. Now I have visited, and it has lived up to expectations and more. As Arnie said, "I'll be back!"

I Love this small venue situated at the end of a lane. We saw Vince Jones last Sunday 6th March and as always he was just wonderful. Bar prices very high but service great but normal I guess for a small club. The hard-chairs were rather uncomfortable so we ended up laying down at the back with pillows, much better.... More

A small venue for the best jazz Melbourn/Australia has on offer. Enough seating for all though could be more comfortable. Extensive range of drinks served from the bar, good small plates of food. Bookings highly recommended. Shame it's got closure hanging over it due to the planned redevelopment of the block.

As Melbourne has music Schools the standard of music in the city is high. This location is a gem, a nice location and a great space to listen to a variety of types of live music. I would recommend this location which also serves a small selection of food. I am told it has recently reopened so I wish it... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
