Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

We went here for drinks whilst we waited for our table upstairs at Chin Chin - really glad we did. In fact we almost decided to stay and eat rather than head back upstairs. The GoGo bar has heaps of character and an awesome vibe all it's own.
The food menu is a snapshot of what to expect from Chin Chin and the drinks menu, 'The Little Black Book', especially the cocktails (which are fantastic) is extensive. I can recommend the Far East Side (Bombay Gin, lime, lemon and palm sugar, with a floating basil leaf).
GoGo is a destination in its own right, as securing a seat upstairs can be time consuming. Next time we're in Melbourne we are definitely coming back here.

Waitress and door staff were super friendly. Drinks were ok. Food was interesting and affordable. Atmosphere was great--good dim lighting and music. Down a dark alley which first appears to be home to strip club.

The GoGo bar is always busy, located below Chin CHin. It is a very good meeting place, we were there on a Friday night after dinner and it was buzzing. It is located in the heart of Flinder's Lane which is a great area to visit when in Melbourne

Absolutely appalling service. After waiting to be seated (being ignored by four different staff members) we eventually chased down someone to ask if they had a table for a drink. A girl sat us at a table and we were there for all of twenty seconds before I encountered someone that should never work in food and beverage or hold the title of “host”.

He approached the table and asked us accusingly who sat us down, when we told him and pointed the staff member out he said “I work here and I’m the host and you can’t be here”

I said I’m sorry but I won’t be spoken to like that and his reply - “I have other guests that are my priority”. Wow. Literally all we had done was be seated where we were told and that’s how we were treated. How is he employed in a service based industry?

What should have happened is he should have apologised we were sat somewhere he had already reserved. He should have moved us somewhere else politely and explained all guests are a “priority”.

Absolutely not our fault your staff are unorganised

Had been to a concert so didn't get here until nearly midnight. Great choice of whiskey / whiskey and although really late I was peckish and ordered snacks. The spicy home made chips (crisps) were excellent and the pulled pork slider with asian slaw was so good I had another one.
Friendly service, good food, excellent nightcap! Remind me next time to come back earlier in the evening to sample more the food.

Came with a group of 8 and had the set menu. Absolutely loved it, really great Thai food with a nice ambiance in the restaurant. Waited was great, attentive and organises the food to suit our requests.

Would highly recommend!

What started as a 45 min wait quickly evaporated within seconds of stepping down stairs to Chin Chins sister venue the Gogo bar
It is the same menu. Except the staff and service are possibly the best in Melbourne on a range if fronts.
Not only is the the food interesting as it is delicious, the staff are just professionals at what they do and put many other establishment with a benchmark they can only aspire too.
Get to Gogo or Chin Chin at 530pm to minimise wait times otherwise it could be an hour or more you will wait. The food is worth waiting for. We will be back. Highly recommended and our highlight experiences after 10days in Melbourne

It was late, some of us needed a meal and others just wanted a drink. We all wanted to talk in a convivial atmosphere as adults without needed to shout over stupidly loud 'mood music' or have drunks falling all over us.

Despite the seemingly suggestive name, GoGo Bar was just the place we needed, tucked away in another Melbourne side lane off buzzing Flinders Lane under its big brother Chin Chin.

From the moment we walked in the door the staff were excellent, finding us a table and getting us a menu straight away.

The food was a selection of dishes from Chin Chin so you could not possibly go wrong. My friends who ordered meals were raving about them and from my own vantage point they all smelled and looked fantastic.

The cocktails were excellent. Some were a twist on well known classics and others sounded weird until you tried them and worked out that the combination just worked a treat. The ability to share a cocktail delivered in a carafe between more than one person is a great innovation that more places should try.

The mood was breezy, upbeat and 'right now' but neither the music nor the crowd were overpowering which allowed us to enjoy our chat, meals and drinks without any fuss or bother. Very happy to recommend this place if you are looking for a drink or a meal late at night in Melbourne.

Just one tip - if friends tag you in at this place on social media prepare to explain the suggestive name to your 'significant other' or perhaps even to work colleagues. It's certainly NOT what they might think!

We had a table booth of 5 adults and a toddler. We all enjoyed eating the banquet that consisted a selection of fine dishes. It is from the ChinChin kitchen. Next time, I’ll order my own dish and stick to seafood rather than having all different types of meats. Other than that, it was delicious, cool and had a feel good factor to it. The service was awesome, the young lady waitress was such a delight. The other waiters too were friendly especially to see how well behaved our 3 year old boy was who eventually fell asleep on our lap.

Stumbled across this after deciding not to wait in a long queue at a nearby bar. Everything fell into place as we lingered to find out what the place was about when suddenly a table became free right behind us. The waiter informed us that they had not only Thai food but a whiskey list! Turns out the bar was related to ChinChin Thai restaurant above so we were having that food plus the atmosphere of a bar and people in large parties enjoying their Thai banquets. Unbelievably attentive staff, particularly Jack, whose focus is the customer experience - boy, could other places follow that creed. Definitely visit next time we are in Melbourne just for the food alone.
