Newport Lakes is Melbourne's best kept secret. When you enter the site off Mason street you are drawn into the lush bushland setting and as the city sounds dissipate and the birdlife calls break the silence you will immediately find yourself relaxing, destressing and at...More

A surprisingly rural bush experience so close to the city. Great if you do not have time to get out of town but want to see a native environment.

Newport Lakes park is a top place for a walk or run and it has a basic but well maintained playground for the little ones. The lake is quite nice and has stepping stones which can keep younger kids happy for a while.

Terrain is rough for a stroller but my baby loves it. Variety of short walks, very peaceful. Nice calm oasis in the middle of suburbia. Picnic, BBQ, playground and undercover seating. Hobson bay council really is pretty terrific.
