Would love to see this place in summer and enjoy the experience. Can tick it off the list of attractions to see in Melbourne. Enjoyed the tram ride to St Kilda and the short walk to the beach.

We were surprised by the things to do at StKilda Beach, wilst it is not the sunshine coast/gold coast type beach it has plenty of attractions around it,Luna Park, wonderful restaurants, sunday markets and it is easy to walk to most places without raising a sweat.

This beach is just right if you are looking for easy access to the ocean without going far off from the city. It is suitable for a walk, run and biking . It was not very busy considering it was winter but can get very busy in summers. Cozy restaurants and Luna park are close by. Parking can be little... More

This is maybe not the prettiest beach in the world, but having a beach so close to the CBD makes Melbourne one of my favorite cities thanks to the great variety which can be found in and around the city.

I recently went to St Kilda Beach on a Sunday. It has a street market with all kinds of things to buy. Great for tourists but not cheap anymore. If you go at lunchtime there are a number of good restaurants, but they get very busy

Was mid Winter and we went running all along the esplanade and further. Nice area and in the warmer months I'm sure would be a lovely place to spend the day for family's and couples alike. Had a light lunch in one of the beachfront restaurants and the service and food were good.

Staying in St. Kilda

Neighborhood Profile
St. Kilda
St. Kilda is an iconic beachside suburb and one of the most culturally and economically diverse of Melbourne’s neighborhoods. It is a traditional haven for musicians, artists and writers, drawn to the European ambience and fresh ocean breezes. At night, it can have an edgier side, but by day, it features a relaxed vibe – the market stalls, boutiques and outdoor bars display St. Kilda’s easygoing attitude. Ocean winds blow from Port Phillip Bay and waves lap onto its long and mostly deserted beaches. Rides whir at the world’s oldest operational Luna Park. On a lazy weekend morning, bikers cruise along Acland Street, showing off their motorcycles. But the late morning crowds are too busy at brunch to notice. St. Kilda is a perfect place to relax after a night out with friends.
