If you haven't come to Flinders Street Station, you haven't been to Melbourne for it's the city centre to Yarra River, Botanic Garden, Federation Square and then the business district flocked by tourists.

Much more impressive outside than in this is a well photographed iconic site. Famous for its clocks at the entrance and it’s octagonal dome. Coincidental that Flinders’ body has recently been found during the excavations at a London station ( Euston).

It is nice to see that this iconic Melbourne landmark is finally getting a restoration. A beautiful railway station that is heavily photographed it was getting tired and very dirty. The clean on the facade and the tunnels / platforms is a long term project...More

This building looks more spectacular from the outside. It is instantly recognisable and was easy to find! We usually visit the railway stations in places we visit, and this was on our "to see" list. While not one of the more spectacular trains stations we've...More

Beautiful building with a lot of history. Iconic place to meet friends and family, under the clocks.

Totally under-utilised historic building that needs to be renovated. So many empty buildings that could be put to use. The clocks and stairs are an iconic part of Melbourne’s street scape that are worth a photo at all times of the day

The inside of the station is very functional, but it is the outside that is worth the visit. I have read about the station over the years and always wanted to visit. It has changed significantly since my first reading. The outside is crowded, not...More

Flinders Street Station is the iconic heart of Melbourne. Sure, the surrounding sidewalks are far from spotless, yet the building itself is grand, and the bustle of hundreds of people from this diverse city is worth the experience.

One of the most photogenic building structures in this city. Though we hadn't experienced taking a train ride here. Just taking a photo under the famous clocks here is enough for me to say - "nice meeting you Melbourne".

Even if you don't need to use the trains in this station (since there are free trams in the CBD zone), come here just to get a nice picturesque photo for yourself. Lovely and majestic. Across the train station, you can get a nice photo...More

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air

Summer dress shopping (10 Replies)
Hey, England isn't really selling summer clothes right now since it's still winter and very cold, so I'm lacking in the wardrobe department for my trip in just under 3 weeks time. Which stores are good and reasonably priced to buy summery clothes? Dresses in particular please :) Any near-ish to Flinders Street Station would be a bonus! Thanks as always :)

Anyone can assist me?
Left luggage or take suitcases to lunch? (6 Replies)
Arriving around 12:30 PM at MEL. Staying at an apartment near Flinders Street Station. Check in is 3 PM. They said I could book an extra night to guarantee early checkin but I estimate I'll arrive around 1:30 PM using Skybus and the shuttle service they offer from Southern Cross. Is there Left Luggage at Southern Cross or Flinders Street stations? Or places to have lunch near those places with room for 4 or 5 suitcases?

If it's a private rental (not an apartment hotel) and you can't drop off your luggage early then you can go to Travellers Aid near Platform 10 at Flinders St.Station. You can leave your luggage - $8 for a large suitcase and $5 for a small one. If it's a hotel style apartment, just ask them if you can drop your luggage off when you arrive.
