The Capital City Trail is 29 km (18 mile) loop around Melbourne City that can be traversed by bicycle or foot. The Capital City Trail takes in mostly the eastern and northern suburbs of Melbourne. It connects to other trails. On the whole, the trail is quite pleasant and takes in some scenic areas like theYarra River. You don't have... More

When staying in Melbourne with friends, we cycled this so that we could see lots of the city in one go. Had a great time - the route is well marked and you pass lots of interesting places.

It's a lovely walk on the whole. I have the following observations. 1. Very very scenic in most places especially after the built up area has been crossed. Though this point is the smallest but it really was in large segments really really beautiful. 2. The gurgling Merri river right next to the track, takes the walk to another level... More

If you enjoy a weekend ride the Capital City Trail is ideal. There is a bit of work occurring which will improve the ride which is welcome. Just one of many great Melbourne cycling options.

Hire a bike, or ride your own. Peaceful, teh pedestrians are mindful of the space. Ideal trail for a Sunday morning bike ride!

off road bicycle paths that take you along the rivers and creeks, casual slow ride or a bit of speed its safe . Great as no car traffic or noise, the paths are shared with pedestrians but everyone respects the space and I have never seen any issue. Melbourne has hire bikes and the paths can be short distance or... More

We took off one fine Saturday afternoon to do the CCT and was totally surprised at how safe, good the track was and through some amazing parts of Melbourne I had never visited before. You get a great view North from the zoo and the Northern part of the track has cafes & playgrounds spread along the track. Its a... More

A great route around the outskirts of Melbourne with plenty to see along the way! Mostly very well signposted and very easy to pick up from Flinders Street Station/Southbank area (where there are also plenty of sharebike stations). The only thing I would say is as you pass through Abbotsford Convent area you will need to take the bike up... More

We cycled from St Kilda to Yarra Bend and enjoyed it. It is a pity that so much of it is a shared trail with walkers - be especially careful on the sections near schools where the youngsters walk three abreast! Also be careful of the other cyclists who pass you at great speed without warning you.
