Melbourne’s iconic Princess Theatre is regarded by many as Melbourne’s most spectacular landmark. Dating back as far as 1854, the theatre was purchased by Marriner Theatres in 1986 and plans were immediately put in place for its total refurbishment to ensure its future viability as a live theatre venue. The Princess Theatre reopened in 1989 with the musical ‘Les Miserables’ followed by ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ which established a new record for the longest-running show ever staged in Victoria. Today, it continues to host some of the world’s most renowned theatre productions.

I decided on a last minute trip to Melbourne for my birthday and was lucky enough to be able to get a ticket to what turned out to be the GREATEST SHOW EVER! Have not laughed that hard in such a long time. Warning though,...More

Enough has been written about The Book of Mormon - it is great theatre. However, we were at front of Dress Circle and missed some of the dialogue (spoken and sung) because of loud and distorted sound. Someone mentioned this before we went, saying she...More

If you are tall - over about 5'8" you'll have trouble with the leg room. The man next to me had his thigh on me all night, as his legs wouldn't fit in front of him and he had to sit with his legs splayed.......More

Absolutely beautiful interior. They have nice ceiling frescoes and stained glass, and nice chandeliers. Bar staff are really friendly and helpful. The theatre seats are a little close together (everyone has to stand up to let someone through), but has advantage of keeping warm on...More

We went to see"The Book of Mormon".What a wonderful send up of the Mormon church & religion, a bit risque, but so cleverly done the adverse language just seemed to melt into the action & was so clever. The whole audience , all ages from...More

We saw The Book of Mormon here - the show was fantastic, best we've seen, very funny and well worth it. The theatre is beautiful, however like many of its era it is very uncomfortable seating. Very tight legroom, it's fine until the people in...More

We saw 'The Book of Mormon' here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The theatre is old and quaint. Not the most comfortable seating though. Good eating nearby.

Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place
