For those large family groups who are looking for a central, cost effective and accessible place to gather in Melbourne, I'd recommend the Royal Botanic Gardens. I visited the botanic gardens to get inspiration for some landscaping projects at work, but found the whole grounds a little underwhelming. Their are a lot of old plantings that are established, which helped with micro Eco climates, but I was expecting more themed zones, especially more Australian natives.
