You can come and go as you please but plan to spend a couple hours if you would like to walk most of the park. You can bring a picnic or stop into the Terrace to grab a bit or drink. Check out the Volcano if you're interested in water conservation. The Shrine of Remembrance is also a close walk... More

A lovely green oasis within walking distance of the central business district. We walked along by the river to the gardens from the city. Unusually entrance to the gardens is free. Plenty of interest in the plantings and a good place for a picnic. There is a good tearoom with both inside and outside seating and also a visitor centre... More

The gardens are beautiful and full of historic significance. Free walking tours of Melbourne start at the State Library and are the best way to explore the gardens and city with a knowledgable guide by your side. Wear comfortable shoes!

The gardens are a stone's throw from the centre of Melbourne and well worth a visit. I always find time to visit whenever I'm in Melbourne and never get tired of walking around the gardens. They are immaculately maintained and you can take as much or as little time as you like to enjoy the gardens. I took my 19... More

If you're not a tree or plant lover then enjoy the gardens for their beauty, tranquility and central location in the city; but if you are a tree lover you are in paradise. I have yet to find a...
