With strollers and young grand children in tow, this would have to be our top attractions. Child friendly, easy to get around and informative. Lots of interactive stuff for young and old.

Took the whole family out to The Aquarium. Kids loved all the sea animals. The Aquarium is full of colour and has a wide variety of fish. Can get a bit squishy with all the prams. Overall a great day out.

We've visited a lot of aquariums around the world and this one is pretty good. A few sea life cretures I haven't seen before like the sword fish and cuttle fish which were pretty cool to see. My daughter enjoyed the giant croc and the giant sting rays.

Very busy and crowded, getting in but the system went surprisingly smoothly, interesting quite spaced out a lot of walking for elderly, parents. Very well done informative talks a lot of variety of fish, penguins and sharks good shows but the seating for lunch was limited, and not always clean, and food was expensive but all went well and it... Just like all the Sea Life Aquariums around the world, a wide range of 'exhibits' with local input. A huge crocodile is resident as are 2 varieties of penguins, sea dragons and sea horses. Lots of info on environmental concerns and how we can each play our part in protecting the amazing things we have all around us, Childrens (+adults)... More

Aquariums have that 'if you've seen one you've seen them all' feeling and while the exhibits here are thoughtful and somewhat varied, we were left with that same feeling. The highlights were the penguin exhibit (feeding time and commentary from Doug is absolutely worth seeing) and the 10 minute 4D Ice Age film is a blast! These two things made... More

An excellent couple of hours can be spent here, especially for the kids. Fascinating exhibits, great walk thru/around tank filled with friendly fish, sharp toothed sharks and slinky Moray eels. Nice central city location on the riverside, with plenty of grassy picnic space and numerous eateries across the bridge. Also very handy to public transport - trams and trains, so... More

We got free tickets to the aquarium with a tour company so decided to come here one afternoon when it was raining heavily on Melbourne. We love aquariums and zoos and found the Melbourne aquarium compared favourably with others we've been to in other cities. The exhibits were great and enough information was provided to learn about the creatures, and... More

Was given a Xtreme shark dive by friends. The aquarium itself is not very big but there is plenty to see especially for kids. The shark dive was fantastic as we got very close to the fishes which were much larger than expected. The instructors were very friendly and professional. Would recommend it for anyone looking to do something a... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
