I booked this tour for my husband and I the night before and frankly wasn't expecting much since it's winter and Mother Nature and animals can't be controlled... there's always an element of luck involved with these things. But I was pleasantly surprised. Rob, our driver and tour guide, very quickly made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. He's very down-to-earth,... More

From the point of booking, where Mac was really helpful, to the end of our tour, everything went smoothly. We were picked up from Rendezvous Hotel by Nikki, our guide, who was friendly and made everyone feel at home. There were 7 others with my husband, my 9yr old son and I, and Nikki kept us all entertained with lots... More

I booked the Penguin Express with Guided Ranger Tour. Chose the Little Penguin Bus for the size of the bus – small. Traveling solo I got to sit in the front passenger seat in Rob's bus. Rob was friendly and informative. He answered questions well and was great company on the trip from Melbourne to Phillip Island. While walking with... More

Hi Beth. Thanks for the review and pics! I'm delighted to hear you had an enjoyable, informative tour with Rob. I know what you mean about some of those publicity shots provided by the Nature Park. They can be misleading and there are some I won't use on my own website. But I'm glad you felt it was a good... More

They really deliver their promises. Yep you get to spend more time in Melbourne; yes you get more time with the penguins; yes they are cheaper. Our guide was Rob and boy was he fun and had masses of local personal knowledge which just added to the trip. The best advice involved where to sit and what to do after... More

We travelled as a family of four including my 67 yrs old mom. Chose little penguin bus based on reviews. It was indeed a great trip. Since my mom had difficulty in walking, Rob picked us up from our hotel itself which was a big benefit. Rob our tour guide had lot of knowledge and tried his best to keep... More

We had been greeted by Dave our tour guide with his cute as hat! He was friendly and totally understanding of our needs. He gave great advice on how to get the most out of seeing the penguins. Lots of little hints on how to beat the crowd. He made my experience a treat. Highly recommended!

We decided to join the wild island tour and never regret it!! Having listened to many Philip Island tour experience from friends, this is indeed very different from their itineraries. We manage to see lots of wildlife the whole day. Giant stingrays by the pier, groups of pelicans, wild wallabies hopping around, so much to see for a day! The... More

Hi Vincent. Thanks so much for reviewing your (March!) Wild Island Tour. We are very proud to offer such a different Phillip Island tour. And we are delighted you enjoyed it so much. We were anticipating this experience for months and it definitely lived up to the hype!! Ron picked us up in his penguin hat and penguin van and set the tone. His commentary throughout the tour was perfect - the right amount of information and quiet time. He provided books, a brochure and a map for us to use. Once we... More

We had a great time seeing the Penguins as part of this tour. The company was fantastic and honored our reservation even though we were the only group on the tour. Our tour guide Rob was very knowledgeable and contributed a lot to our good time. The company also provided ponchos and blankets for the rain; we had a fantastic... More

Even in the pouring rain, this trip was a blast. Our tour guide, Rob, was extremely informative, enthusiastic, and a true pleasure to be with. Because of the poor weather, we were the only people on the tour (just 2), but the company still took us. Would highly recommend this to anyone who loves (or even mildly likes) penguins.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
