Love these markets as they are not that big but have everything you need. The fruit and veggies are great and the deli section has a very wide range of goods.

All the usual market supplies and services are here, but the organic meat section took my attention. The food is varied, both the ready-to-eat and the cook-at-home varieties. The quality was obvious, but this was reflected in the prices. The eastern-end of the market has...More

Good market if you have a car. Easy to park in the big car park on top. If you don't have a car I'd probably go to the queen vic market instead which easy to walk or tram to.

We enjoyed the stroll around the markets with some interesting shops and stalls. We grabbed some macaroons which were amazing. Such diversity in Melbourne is amazing and all on display here. Loved it.

Don't expect a cheap bargain on items as the prices may astound you but the food offerings are ok. Plenty of things to choose from and shop about here.

Used to love going down to South Melbourne markets for a dim sim on Saturdays when I lived at St Kilda years ago. One dim dim was all you could eat. They were big, juicy, tasty and full of fresh cabbage. I've been out of...More

Markets all tend to blur into each other nowadays but this one stands out as it had a great mix of stores and some really fabulous local produce. If I lived in Melbourne, I'd be here all the time!

South Melbourne
South Melbourne hosts the city’s oldest continuous
market, founded in 1867. Rows of neatly arranged
fruit, vegetables and flowers splash yellows, greens
and reds along the entire perimeter, where the whole
neighborhood gathers for Saturday feasts. Inside the
hall, shoppers hover over the mouth-watering displays
of delicatessens and specialty food shops. Further in,
a bazaar full of giftware, clothing, and kitchen

My wife and I prefer the South Melbourne Market. It is more compact hence easy to get around. There are less clothing shops than at the Vic Market, but a sufficient choice for us. Equally, the food stores especially the... More
