We did this tour with Kathy. I highly recommend it. Kathy is very knowledgable and entertaining. From learning the history of different cuisines to finding out good places to eat in laneways etc you would never think to go as well as hidden gems in buildings that from the outside don't appear to be of any interest. Thank you Kathy.

Had a fantastic tour with Eben. We saw some amazing buildings and art with a knowledgeable and friendly guide. Stopped for a Lindt hot choc and finished with a hideaway lunch. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to see the city.

Even if you're a Melbourne local, you should do this tour, you'd learn things about the city many don't know. From hidden coffee spots, to quirky laneways art and shops plus historical info not in the general guidebooks. Kathy our guide, a born n bred Melbournian is passionate about her city and knows a story about every corner. It's well... More

Kathy, our guide was passionate about her city. We had a terrific tour of the laneways, history of the city and heard some great anecdotes about the city - in particular, Hopetoun Tea Room's etched mirror..... Thanks Kathy for a memorable tour. Wanda

What a great way to see Melbourne! Our guide was enthusiastic and and knowledgeable. We felt that we were stepping into 1928 Melbourne, learning about the buildings, arcades, laneways and generally getting a glimpse of what life might have been like then. The afternoon tea was amazing and the cocktail at the end of the tour was was exactly what... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
