The Hot air balloon, Yarra valley wine tour was a surprise wedding gift for us. Even though we are not the most knowledgeable wine drinkers, we absolutely loved it.
The trip was organized by Paul, from Vinetrekker, who patiently explained us how the day was going to unfold and by Stephen, our guide for the day.

The only tough part for us was to get up early as we are night owls. It was however worth every cent! We met our driver downtown at 4:30 AM. He was there exactly as scheduled and took us to the hot air balloon part of the trip. This part is actually outsourced to Global Ballooning as they are the ones operating the balloons. The team was amazing and from the security advises to the end of the trip we had a blast. Eddy, our pilot, was enthusiastic and answered all our questions as we were admiring the scenery, the sun rising and enjoying the balloon floating and drifting. The balloon experienced concluded with a very nice breakfast at the Balgownie Estate, a Yarra valley hotel.

After the meal, Stephen, our tour guide for the day, picked us up at the estate and brought us to various vineyards. The tour was exquisite! Each vineyard was very different from the others and offered a different vibe wich would only paint the yarra valley under a different shade! From the ancient, big and well established winemakers to newer, lesser known but not less talented producers, Stephen introduced us to the subtleties of the Yarra valley wine. The tour was also well balanced as every other location would offer us cheese or food to illustrate the pairing of their products and allow us to not taste wine on an empty stomach.

Finally, we were dropped back at out place on the way back. Their website and all the comments about Vinetrekker promise you an amazing day. Based on my experience, Paul and Stephen will deliver and exceed your expectations!

Thanks so much for your detailed review Vincent and delighted that the surprise gift to the Yarra Valley exceeded your expectations. We enjoy a terrific relationship with Global Ballooning and it is a pleasure to deal with such an organised and professional team. The balloon experience they offer their guests is outstanding and they are always in such great spirits when we collect them for their wine tour. Our guides make an effort to engage with their guests to understand their interest in wine as well as the wine styles they're familiar with. Gleaning that information allows them to structure the day and ensure they get as much out of the day as possible. No surprises to hear that Stephen gave you a more than memorable experience. It was a joy to have you travel with us and we hope to see you again soon. All the best.

We had a great day out with Adrian, first to the Healsville Sanctuary, followed by excellent lunch at Yering Station and two vineries. Adrian knows tons of the area and wineries and shared a lot of interesting information along the way. He really made the day! He was ever so pleased seeing international travellers again after the pandemic and made us feel very welcome. The cheese pairing at the last winery was also quite yummy and made up for just one course at lunch (instead of Yering‘s usual menu).
I would definitely recommend doing the sanctuary in the morning instead of three more wine tastings, as otherwise it can get a bit boozy and personally, I think it’s a shame to waste good wine on spittoons!

Thanks Holiday for taking the time to review your recent tour to the Healesville Sanctuary and Yarra Valley and great to hear how much you loved it and how happy you are to recommend it. Adrian is really well suited to guiding and gives his guests a wonderful experience. The lunch at Yering Station is a main choice only from 4 dishes that are selected from their a la carte menu and is pretty much the same menu that other guests get to select from. The combination of animals, wine and food is a great one, especially for our returning international visitors who we're so happy to see again. Thanks for supporting us, we greatly appreciate it.

We had a wonderful experience on the Vinetrekker Yarra Valley Wine & Food Day Tour.

Booking our tour with Paul via the website was very easy and Vinetrekker were happy to collect us from our accommodation in the Yarra Valley.

Our tour guide Rob was excellent – he was friendly, fun and informative. The tour consisted of nine guests including us, which was a great size, big enough for great conversation and discussion, but small enough to load and unload the minivan as well as visit the winery tasting rooms.

Our first stop was De Bortoli Vineyard – beautiful gardens and landscaping. Our wine tasting with cheese pairings was really good – the tasting room is lovely here. We purchased the La Boheme Cuvee and also the Prosecco here.

Next stop was Yering Station for another great wine tasting in the original winery building from 1859. Our lunch was at the restaurant here at Yering Station – what a treat! Not only was the building beautiful with expansive views and beautiful art sculptures, the food was excellent!

After lunch was a tasting at Oakridge Vineyard, more lovely views over the vines and the Yarra Valley.
On to the fourth stop and my favourite – Medhurst Vineyard. The wines here were the best on the tour in my opinion. We purchased the Sauvignon Blanc – it was outstanding.

Last stop was the Payten & Jones Winery in Healesville. It was fun and fresh and funky – very different environment to the other cellar doors which was great for a contrast. We purchased the Ooh La La fortified wine here.

Overall, we were very satisfied with every aspect of the tour – good value for money, great selection and variety of wineries, excellent lunch, lovely guide and a small group size. We highly recommend this tour.

All wine lovers can agree that the best and most safest way to go winetasting touring is with a wine tour guide who is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about the best vineyards and winery to enjoy throughout Australia's Wine Country. That is Paul with Vinetrekker! We had an amazing time with Paul and several other couples that were on the wine tasting tour. Paul is extremely well versed in Australia's wine country and will take you to some of the best hidden gems off the beaten path. We had a fantastic time touring Yara Valley, CoBaw Ridge, Hanging Rock, Curly Flat and the Macedon Range Along with a stop for lunch at the Hanging Rock Cafe. We highly recommend Vinetrekker for wine tasting tours and ask for Paul.

My twin and I were visiting Melbourne for our 40th and had a fabulous time on Vinetrekker Wine and Food tour. It is a very well organised and put together tour. The host Paul who is an excellent communicator really made it extra special and went above and beyond for all of the guests on the trip. He remembered everyone's name and offered to pick us up and drop us off directly from our hotel.

On the drive out to the Yarra Valley Paul gave us a very interesting and informative background on Melbourne’s history pointing out various places of interest along the way.

We visited 5 of the best Vineyards in the Yarra Valley, each uniquely varied, amoungst a very picturesque landscape.

The wine we tasted throughout the day was so wonderful, with complex and contrasting flavours. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay were very among our favourites.

Paul’s knowledge and passion for wine was remarkable and quite contagious. We went away having learnt so much about wine. Paul’s exceptional character was evident by us all, he made us feel valued and respected, and we noticed the unique relationships he has formed with the vineyard owners and staff, they showed a deep respect, and comradery towards each other. We were proud to be part of his group.

Paul offered to take photos for us, again going above and beyond taking varied angles of shots for us. On the way home we saw some Kangaroos, and he was happy to stop the van on our request so we could take photo’s of them.

We were worried that we would not be able to manage all the tastings but Paul put our mind at ease, he made sure we were well hydrated along the way, constantly topping up our glasses with water. We had and outstanding lunch at Yerring Station which helped slow down the absorption of alcohol and we were quite capable to enjoy more tastings after lunch and felt absolutely fine at the end of the day.

Paul is a kind and caring soul and a lot of fun to be around. It is evident that he has put a lot of thought and planning into the structure of this tour which is why it is so successful.

We will always remember our time on this trip. It was such great value and the highlight of our time in Melbourne. We will happily go back on this tour and bring our friends and family along with us!

Paul was excellent, picking up at a convenient location and on time, and really knew his wine and the history of the Yarra Valley. We were in a small group and had a personalised experience at each vineyard - the wine and cheese tasting sessions were very conversational and had their fair share of premium wines.
Lunch was at a beautiful restaurant with panoramic views at Yering station following the second wine tasting. All meal options and wine pairings were of high quality with lots of choice.
The day ended with a trip to the Healesville Sanctuary where we were assigned a volunteer which made it a much more enjoyable visit than a general admission.
It was great value for money and would highly recommended to anyone without car access to the Yarra Valley, thanks Paul!

We had an extremely enjoyable day visiting 5 excellent, but quite different, wineries. This tour was extremely well organised and our tastings were often in our own private room and accompanied with cheese tastings at two wineries. The lunch at Yering Station was superb. Our guide, Paul, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines, the wineries and the Melbourne area. Overall, this was a great day and first-class experience that we would very highly recommend to anyone. This tour was certainly a several notches above many other similar tours that we have done. Thanks Vinetrekker for an outstanding experience.

Went for the Yarra Valley: Wine Tour with Lunch at Yering Station

We had at least 25 -30 different types of wine and spirits from 5 vineyards, which included high quality large vineyards, independently owned boutique vineyards, each has its own stories of origin.

There were some wines which I was curious to try (that wasn’t originally on the menu) but Paul brought it out for us to try (with permission from the vineyards of course!). Paul knew his wines and could answer any questions we had during the tour, as well as the region of Yarra Valley.

The vineyards brought out some of their reserve wine for tasting, to give us a feel and taste of the difference in the various quality of wines they have. Seems like it was a good year every year for Yarra Valley in the past 10year, hence the wines were all of great quality.

Lunch at Yering Station was great, with a wide range of choices for the carnivores and vegetarians, and the view there just made the experience better! Though there were spots of bad weather as the usual 4 seasons in a day for Melbourne region, that didn’t affect the tour much.

There were also good quality cheeses for us to pair with the wine at De Bortoli vineyard.
Overall, it was a very well thought itinerary and definitely a bang for the buck! And being a small group tour, we made lots of friends during the day trip!

This was actually my second time on Paul's Wine and Food Tour in the Yarra Valley, having been on it in Feb 2022 with my partner. This time I brought my parents who were over visiting from Ireland in August to experience it. Once again it did not disappoint! The whole day start to finish was brilliant, Paul is extremely informative and passionate about food and wine - which came across on the tour. He is also very friendly and approachable, and was able to answer any questions we had. Everyone had a brilliant day, and loved all of the vineyards we visited. We also had some delicious pairings of cheese and wine which added to the experience. Without a doubt the best wine tour I have been on in Australia to date!
