I went to silkroad one night after work for drinks, the whole venue is beautiful and elegant. a tab bit on the expensive side. But a nice place for a few drinks. Also ladies hold onto your jackets as i had to pay to have my jacket put in the cloak room.

Waitress's service was terrible and she had a real bad attitude on her!! Food was average. Way Overcharged. Venue was awesome, gorgeous decor, impressive, but service and prices were disappointing. Wouldn't go back. Also drinks were weak as! My friend and I had 8 drinks between us and left there straight!

Now we just cycled in from Tasmania so we were easily impressed. The bouncers seduced us in and the first thing to catch out eye we're the $1M chandeliers and the life size brass statue of Napoleon (?) on a horse. Plenty of staff and security. Service a little slow but extremely friendly. Sashimi was originally served and tasty but... More

Don't go out much so didn't know what to expect. Taken by two single girlfriends. It was a pick up joint that is for sure. I'm certain at least one of the one's hitting on my friend was married. But still, I really liked the staff, they were pleasant. Very pleasant. Not too uppity. I thought the drinks were really... More

We had s private room on this visit so we're spared the pick up joint air and rude staff on this occasion. The room was lovely but the drinks were lackluster to say the day the least. The security staff were over zealous and incredibly rude and the food. . Well the room booking was for dinner and drinks. 3... More

My husband and I coming from the lvl 55 bar in Rialto towers were told at the door by the female who could have done with a few style tips herself that my husbands shoes were too casual ( black leather tigers) , the male said as long as it was a quick drink we were good ( Friday night... More

On arrival we were met by the hostess and taken to our table for tapas, food was fine, James our waiter was attentive, and even the bouncer situated close by was funny ! Also thanks to Stefanya for our booking. Had a ball and will be back ! The Waterhouse crew !

Went to Silk Road last night with my partner. We had a really fun time for about 3 hours or so. It is a good but overpriced cocktail bar with a very small dance floor (didn't realise it was the dance floor till I was standing on it :) The door bouncer was really pleasant to us (we went out... Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
