Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

As far as street art goes Presgrave Place is a little different. Pictures, frames and posters make up the majority of it. This is not a very long lane, with retail spaces on one side and a building site and a bar on the other. The bar did look quite enticing.

Presgrave Place is a backstreet that has more than graffiti. Presgrave Place is hidden away off Howie Place. It has the normal grafitti and signs, but it also has picture frames and handwritten messages on the wall.. Presgrave Place is interesting, hidden away part of Melbourne that is quite intriguing, and well worth a short detour.

I had found a Melbourne street art map online that I had printed off, so myself and my partner could walk around Melbourne ourselves for free and find all of the street art ourselves , rather than pay for a tour. Hosier Lane, AC/DC Lane and Presgrave Place were my top 3 spots out of 15 in total.
The biggest difference with Presgrave place is all the art is 3D as such, everything has been stuck on to the walls, rather than painted/drawn/spray painted on to the walls like most of the street art in Melbourne. Each piece was different to the next and I loved how it visually looked, everything coming of the walls. It is a lot smaller than say Hosier and AC/DC lanes but just as good. I hope it keeps being extended further down the walls over the next few years.
I would highly recommend doing what we did and finding the free street art map online - Presgrave place was a littler harder to find even using google maps, it is down a street you don’t expect, so just go where your map tells you to go , it is definitely worth finding.

Presgrave Place is a unique to Melbourne's small scale street art scene, with framed mixed-media works. Palgrave Place can be a trifle hard to find, but it's worth the effort.

Other than graffiti, the artists also explore other mediums such a strings, installation, frames, pictures. There’s even a bar hidden here.

This place is a little hidden treasure and is been wanting to come here for some time - and this day I got to drag my ever patient husband along with me - found it Easily enough with google maps - quirky collection of framed art - cool backdrop for photos and not the crowds of hosier lane - haha !!

Really nice street art to view! Work the look and I actually prefer it to Hosier Lane as it is a lot less busy.
