Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.

This is a small shopping centre anchored by the budget department store Target. You can enter the centre from either Bourke Street, near the corner of Swanston Street, or from Little Bourke Street in the Chinatown section. Opening hours are 8am to 10pm on weekdays and 8am to 8pm on weekends. I find the centre convenient if I'm at the tram stop nearby on Swanston Street and realise I need to buy some everyday item or use an ATM.
The Target store is on three levels and offers good buys, especially in clothing for people of all ages. The other shops and services meet everyday needs. There is a pharmacy that is popular with overseas visitors buying lanolin skincare products. International visitors also like the shop selling UGG footwear. And there's a small food court offering takeaways and eat-here. Expect Asian foods (sushi, ramen), bubble tea, juices.

Target is a low-budget department store, which has most of the things you would expect from Myer and David Jones, but at lower prices. It is a self-help shop, so don't expect much in the way of service. There are other useful shops in the same complex. Target is in Bourke St, not far from Swanston St. I often shop at Target when I ned something quickly.

Just up from the mall can be found the Target Centre. Spread out over a couple of floors, it’s not a small store. It’s okay if you know what you want.

The Target Centre is quite a surprise. Apart from Target, a well-known discount department store, the Target Centre has a number of popular restaurants which are always busy around lunchtime.. The Centre has several service businesses. The Target store is well-laid out, you can usually find what you're looking for fairly quickly. The Target Centre is a quick way to get from Little Bourke St to the centre of the city.

This is now 222 Bourke Street but when Coles was 236 Bourke Street. It was the former Mantons store that Coles purchased and it was also the facade of the Hoyts Cinema before they moved to 140 Bourke Street. Target Centre is not just Target but 15 other shops and the only other variety store comparable is Big W in Lonsdale Street. Myer and David Jones are more expensive and Target is like K Mart which the city does not have so it is a very good store to shop at. It is big and spacious and well laid out also

Honestly I don't think the food is hygiene qualified. I had stomachache and run belly whole day after eating the roll. I deeply doubt the responsibility of the owner! Will NEVER come back! One star is too much!

Large section of affordable clothings for the family, low cost housewares and home decor, small electronic department. Merchandise are mostly different and at the lower end than in the US. Good place to pick up some necessities but nothing more.

Nice store just down the street from Bourke Street mall. Sells all types of stuff from clothes to household stuff and kids toys. Similar to Kmart. Good prices and value for money.
Not as high end as Myer or David Jones but very practical and good for basic items.

The big international department store sells somewhat down-market stuff here and the store is not very pleasant. But it is practical for buying what you need.

While David Jones and Myer are a more upmarket shopping experience, Target is more middle of the road and aimed at the family market.
