Most people know Constitution dock as the end port for the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, it is mostly used by private boats and a fishing boats. It is slap bang in the center of the city, right on the waterfront.
It has plenty of restaurants around and actually on it, floating take away's / restaurants, ice creamery.
It has a draw bridge which mainly stays closed for pedestrians / vehicular access.
there is a 1899 steam crane by the drawbridge for tourists to see.
There is plenty of hotels nearby and also plenty of paid parking in the area of you want to park your car when visiting.
There wasn't much happening when we visited due to Covid 19 restrictions stopping visitors accessing Tasmania at the time.
Make it a part of your visit when in Hobart.

From the yachts and boats moored, the brass sculptures, the old buildings and the historic details written on signs and on brass means there is a lot to see at Constitution Dock. The Mona Ferry terminal is on Brooke Pier and it has a lovely cafe and Tasmanian craft and produce stalls. Fish restaurants and floating fish shops on the dock guarantee that you can get a good fish feed.

Great place to roam into as you explore Hobart. So many things to read and look at. Lovely sculptures, bars and shops. We went to or through this area every day of our six day stay and there was always something new or different to see. Early Saturday morning before the markets open is a beautiful time to visit as well.

Constitution Dock is on the water in the centre of Hobart, almost in the middle of the city. Constitution Dock is mainly famous for its role in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, held every Boxing Day. The winners tie up at Constiution Dock. The Sydney to Hobart race is the most prestigious yacht race in Australia,

Constitution Dock is buzzing between Christmas and New Year with the sailors arriving from both Sydney to Hobart and Melbourne to Hobart races.
We had a great time inspecting the yachts each day, visiting the race village for a beverage or something to eat from the food trucks. Lots of atmosphere to soak up and enjoy.
Only negative would be that the permanent cafes on the docks get very busy at this time and service can be very slow.

We stayed in Somerset on the Pier so had amazing views over dock. It was beautiful during the day but it came to life at night when it all lit up and the next morning the sunrise over the dock was amazing. Beautiful spot and I could only imagine the amazing vibe when Sydney to Hobart race is on there.

Strolling around Hobart is easy, interesting and educating. We had glorious weather in late November and took a stroll around the city and waterfront. We walked the Dock and it was lovely to fill your lungs with salt air and hear and see the gentle rocking of the boats on the wharf. This was an after lunch walk so watching the boats smelling the air certainly made me sleep like a baby for the afternoon nap.

Our cruise ship was docked in Hobart for two nights and we just thought this area was fantastic with so much to do and see.
Lots of really good restaurants to choose from most with views of the dock.
You can get a seaplane or boat trip sightseeing tour from here.
Some fantastic sculptures to see round this dock.

Beautiful is a walk around the docks of central Hobart.
Both Constitution & Victoria side by side with historic and modern boats peacefully moored. Be hungry as plenty of seafood options beckon your choice.
A fantastic seaside port to stroll and explore with family.

The views of the dock are splendid, and admiring the yachts and tall mast ships was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. With plenty of restaurants and cafes to sit and daydream. the buildings are in good order.

We are arriving on a cruise ship at 10 on the morning of 30 th January .How far would we have to walk to get the hop on bus and what time would you recommend we book for.We are a party of 6 people.
Written November 21, 2019
You won't have to walk far probably a 5 minute walk and flat and easy walking. The bus is great! You can do a short trip or a long trip as it is hop on hop off. I would have breakfast at the little cafe called Harbour Lights Cafe just near where the bus goes from. The breakfast are really good .Catch the bus to the Cascade Brewery, do a tour and have lunch there they do a great pizza and you can taste the beers and ciders. Then catch the bus back down. Or just stay on the bus and do a round trip a great way to see Hobart! The Botanic Gardens are worth a visit too.!
