Louisa's Walk is a piece of Strolling Theatre or Walking Play that takes you on a journey into the life of Louisa Ragan, an Irish convict, sent to Van Diemen's Land on a seven year sentence, in 1841, for stealing a loaf of bread. You walk with the actors as they tell Louisa's story. You will meet Louisa outside the famous Cascade Brewery building in South Hobart. You will walk through the beautiful Cascade Gardens along to the World Heritage listed Cascades Female Factory Historic Site where Louisa was imprisoned. Once you enter those locked gates, they are shut behind you and you experience life in this harsh prison. You may laugh and you may cry but you will remember Louisa's story!

A wonderful moderate walk for any age using imagination and intrigue! Leave a picnic basket in your car for afterwards or go to the brewery across the road.

Louisa's Walk was well acted by the two cast members. They were engaging and convincing. I must confess that I thought the tour was too long. It is an example of too much of a good thing. If it was 30 minutes shorter I would highly recommend.

Thank you for your Review! We did try to persuade your group's organisers to book our shorter play, Her Story, which we thought more suitable in length given this group's schedule and itinerary but, they were insistent that you all wanted Louisa's Walk! Warm Regards, Judith & Chris. More

Go to the women's goal at noon and they have a new tour. For a large group they will do Louisa's Walk. I have done it before and it was fantastic, so if your group is large, then organise it in advance

Yes, thank you to this reviewer for pointing out that Louisa's Walk is no longer available to individuals from the general public. We will however still perform Louisa's Walk for large groups of 15 or more. Louisa's Walk has been replaced by Her Story down at the Cascades Female Factory at 12 Noon each day and there is no need... More

Previously titled 'Louisa's Walk', 'Her Story' is a compelling and well scripted drama of the life of convict women who arrived at the 'women's factory'. As you follow the drama you become immersed in the story and emotionally connected to 'Louisa' as she includes the participants in the drama. Although you are walking around an empty yard it is not... More

We did this walk a couple of years ago and often tell people who are visiting Hobart to do it. Louisa's walk transforms you to convict days in Hobart. She walks quite slowly as she takes you through the life of a convict and what they would experience when they first arrived in the colony. You think you know what... More
