Sullivans Cove is the major waterfront attraction which consists of numerous finger wharfs, the Elizabeth Pier Wharf , Elizabeth St Pier, Brooke St Pier, Franklin Wharf, Constitution Dock and Victoria Dock which also house numerous restaurants, shops, tourist booking centre, & art galleries.

This is a great place to get in touch with Hobart's historical and contemporary links to the water/sea. There are lots of good restaurants in the area and boats to look at.

Well located and a springboard for our trip to MONA, the adjacent boats and historical vessels from the Sydney to Hobart yacht race was very interesting and well done.

Sullivans Cove has served as the dock area for Hobart since its founding in 1804. It is one of Australia's deep-water ports. The cove area itself is now known as Macquarie Wharf. Our cruise ship docked there for the passage to explore. Really we didn't have to go far to find seafood restaurants and cafes. We also see all kinds of motor pleasure boats, yachts, tall ships and fishing boats. We saw the Mona Ferry and Police vessels as well. A little further down we saw a group of bronze sculptures at the Franklin Wharf. That was a refreshing great location to explore.Happy Travelling!

Taking a walk around the docks and reading some of the history is worth it. A beatifully clean and well maintained area.

Probably my favourite spot in Hobart. Its a great place to wander around and take in the sights. Lots of restaurants and cafes to eat at too.

This whole area became an amazing display of hundreds of interesting, historic boats, related displays, entertainment and Tasmanian produce for the 2017 event. Do not miss it in 2019.

Great to go and taste whisky at its best. A must for the whisky drinker. I did not expect the distillery to be in the factory district that it was situated in, I expected a nice country estate would have suited better to the name.

Sullivan's Cove is the bay around which "Old Hobart" arcs. It is enclosed by the waterfront area from the CSIRO's Maritime Research Facility at one end to the cruise ship terminals at the other. Between these are the famous Salamanca Place with its many art and craft shops, fine dining restaurants, and weekly open-air market; the piers where harbour ferries ply from and the "Taste of Tasmania" festivals are held; fresh fish "punts" which sell excellent fish and chips and Mure's fish restaurant, one of the finest I have encountered anywhere in the world; the Hobart Concert Hall; and the row of buildings that were once warehouses for the makers of IXL jams but now house very good restaurants, a fine boutique hotel and top quality craft shop, and the Hobart campus of the University's College of the Arts with its public exhibition galleries.
There are relatively few port cities around the world where the working wharf area is also a beautiful place, and even fewer where it has become the city's premier cultural precinct. Sullivan's Cove is all these things, and also the focal area for most of the major international events that Hobart hosts.
It is unnecessary really to suggest that tourists go to Sullivan's Cove, as it is hard to imagine that they can miss going there — if they come in cruise ships, they will berth on one side of it and have to walk around it to go to the city centre. But it would not be hard at all to spend an entire day, just taking in the many many things to see and do there.
There are relatively few port cities around the world where the working wharf area is also a beautiful place, and even fewer where it has become the city's premier cultural precinct. Sullivan's Cove is all these things, and also the focal area for most of the major international events that Hobart hosts.

I just love the waterfront in Hobart. Especially Sullivan's Cove.
You can take the ferry from here to MONA, You can take day cruises, dinercruises, there is also a boat going to Bruny Island. You can all book it there in the stalls. There are even locals who will take you on a sailingtrip. Once a year there is the Wooden Boat Festival, then it is ridicilous crowdy and busy in the harbours. But you can also relax here in one of the many restaurants and bars that are on the pier. If you go on the docks which is accesable during day time you can look around and see the boats, or take some beautiful pictures of the other side of the river. There is also a seaplane which you can book for a flight around Hobart. I go there quite often with my puzzlebook, sit there between the boats in the sun and just enjoy the peace and quiet you can find there even though CBD is 500 meters away. It is defitnely my favourite place in Hobart
