Very well preserved historic house where volunteer on duty gave great summary of the first owner's fame and fortunes and subsequent loss of fortunes story. We gained a great sense of the life of the gentry and the convicts in service there. The house is in lovely Battery Point which is a great place to explore by foot and only a short distance from Salamanca.

They have acquired furniture and other artefacts from all over Tasmania from the early 1800s relevant to when this house operated at its height. It is in Battery Point and well worth a diversion to see.

What a wonderful place to have a wedding. Beautiful gardens, courtyard and undercover area. It was the perfect setting for our intimate ceremony with 21 guests. Karyn the manager was so helpful and accommodating. Very reasonably priced.
