The perfect place to see a film

This beats "Gold Class" hands down. Bar and cafe then a small, intimate and extremely comfortable theatre. Loved it!

I had a business meeting here and it was lovely to see the old theatre restored so well and extended on! Their salmon rosti was delicious too!!! There is parking out the bavk and on the side streets too, and a lovely book store next to it. I would go back again

Certainly a cinema to visit. A wonderful "blast from the past". Just a few tweets to the organisation of ticketing would be helpful. Very refreshing experience away from the modern glitz and conveyor line of other movie centres.

With a number of excellent small cinemas, this intimate venue offers everything (for not particularly cheap prices) for a nice time out. A good bookshop, an ok cafe (avoid the coffee) and often a selection of non-mainstream films - although of late this has changed somewhat. It's very good when more European films are available but it's clear that the... More

A terrific complex, the small cinemas provide a great relaxed atmosphere with comfortable seating, an and excellent range of movies; the attached cafe is very convenient, all in the heart of trendy North Hobart.

What a great cinema. Serve coffee and cake. Greatest range of movies in Hobart. Eight cinemas. Small cozy inside and very comfy seats. Very helpful and friendly staff. So impressed we watched a second movie. We will definitely be going back to this one.

I always enjoy a visit to the State Cinema... At the State you can enjoy a drink while watching the movie of your choice, and the food available in the cafe area is delicious. The State offers a great array of art house movies, and occasionally some popular movies. There is always a great selection of movies to choose from.... More

Extremely accessible by bus ( bus stop right in front, frequency every 10 - 15 minutes from the CBD, 10 - 15 minutes away from the CBD). The choice of movies is like the one at the Dendy in Sydney --- a mixture of the commercial (like The Girl on The Train and Inferno, which we watched) and the artsy... More
