About The Lady Nelson
Come aboard, relax and enjoy Tall Ship sailing within one of the world's most picturesque harbours. The Lady Nelson is a full size replica of the original England built Brig that the first settlers to Hobart arrived in. Short harbour sails provide a unique opportunity to experience tall ship sailing. Haul on a line, steer the ship, talk to the captain and crew or just relax and enjoy the magnificent views of Hobart. The Lady Nelson is available for private charter and offers multi-day sailing trips exploring places such as Port Arthur, Tasman Peninsular, Bruny Island and the d'Entrecasteaux Channel. The ship can also be booked as a unique waterside venue for functions, parties and historical talks.

We were lucky enough to go out on the Lady Nelson for 7 hours yesterday. It was such a good experience. The Master (Richard), Bosun (Tony) and the rest of the crew were friendly and very knowledgeable, and happy to have any one of us help out. My husband climbed up the mast and I was able to take the helm for about an hour. We were fed extremely well, with Harry the cook, cooking up a storm down below, providing morning and afternoon tea and lunch. At no stage were we nervous or in any danger. We were well looked after by a very friendly and efficient team.

We embarked on an 11am Sailing with the Lady Nelson and could not fault our experience in any way. The crew were quite amazing with their knowledge, physical ability and skills, and it was great to get involved with hauling away and learning more about the vessel. We would do it again in a heartbeat and most highly recommend it to other travellers. Just do it! And support this venture in every way you can! This is a memory we will long cherish from our holiday in Tasmania!

The moment I stepped on board the historical grand Tall Ship The Lady Nelson I knew the next three days offered something unique. The skilled volunteer crew were welcoming, encouraging and supportive of my attempts of hauling sails or trying harnessed climbs. Meeting the hearty appetites was Harry in the galley creating delicious meals to satisfy all dietary needs . The bunks provided adequate space for sleeping, zoning out with a book or electronics . Whether its the history, the views, the walks, the desire to test your nerve, skills or simply be with like minded people. I wholeheartedly encourage A Lady Nelson Sailing.

I am a 74 year old woman and I just finished a 3 day2 night trip on the Lady Nelson cruising towards the south of Tasmania. it was the most wonderful experience where you could assist with the sails if you wished. There were walks onshore, one of which was to a quarantine station on Bruny Island, used for the Spanish flu more than a hundred years ago: deja vu. They masked and covered just as we are today. A lot of belly laughs, great volunteeer crew and great companions on board.

Being on the LADY NELSON with a 100 per cent volunteer crew was a fabulous fabulous day. The best part was the attentive crew who loved the clients and their work.
