We came here alongwith the Grayline Mt. Welllington tour. The atmosphere here is comfortable. The barracks are well maintained. The commentary being told here is important

"Her Story" was informative & entertaining, could do with more exhibits to encapsulate the history more thoroughly. Would recommend visiting whilst in Hobart

Awesome guides take you back in time.. You start to imagine the conditions and severity of the times .. Disturbingly sad and cruel lives that these women and children suffered whilst in the female factory. Great historic information.

A 2hour visit to take in all the History of this site. The women were treated badly. Recommend you take the Tour on offer, the Guides are excellent and you learn so much more than just walking around yourself.

You will need to have a good imagination when you visit this site. Basically it's just the external walls and outlines what what may have been here during the penal years. The price was reasonable however there are much better sites to visit

Finally a historic site that tells the story of female convicts and there role in colonial Australian history. It was well worth doing the tour, the tour guides were a wealth of information. The stories of the women and children were very sad and at times uplifting. Being a convict woman could be a ticket to a higher station in... More

I have been to the Female Factory a number of times on my travels to Tasmania and I always head back. The history here is fascinating and if you go do yourself a big favour and take a tour and do "Her Story". The place will come alive with the story unfolding in front of you - just like it... More

Incredible stories by the tour guide. Worth doing the tour as the atmosphere isn't the same just walking around.
