The Her Story production as part of my visit to the female Factory site was exceptional. It allowed me to understand the history of this significant part our convict history . Particularly as this is the ONLY female convict site in Australia. Absolutely a must part of any history visits you do in Hobart or Tasmania.

You've been to Port Arthur and think you've seen and heard all there is to know about convicts? The Female Factory gives an entirely different and incredibly moving perspective, focusing on the lives and conditions endured by the women and children incarcerated here. The tour is well worth being a part of and "Her Story" is very well presented by... More

I really recommend the 'Her Story' tour. It brings the facility to life and helps participants to visualise and empathise with what it would have been like during its period of operation. The actors are fantastic. They tell the very moving story of just one inmate, and weave in all of the facts and figures of the facility's history. I... More

We took the tour, thank goodness, because it made a huge difference. Well-designed "open air" museum worth visiting for the unique context of women convicts. Imaginative rendering of the areas not longer there, with good supporting materials for your imagination. The guide provided the facts and figures, as well as showing non-obvious things; fortunately, since the stand-alone needed a little... More

The gift shop has more brochures and books of historical and human interest than the actual reconstruction site depicts.

In some ways the stories are a little disturbing, but should be heard to realise the way we have treated people in the past. This is a well run establishment. Would totally recommend everyone to attend a session of "Her Story"....just incredible

Our guide took us through stories of what is basically institutionalised slavery by the British government. So depressing and horrifying. Great tour and site though...

Only do this site with a tour guide or it will be a waste of time. The tour guide was knowledgeable and we learnt so much about the sad history of female covicts
