Lucky enough to catch the mountain on a crystal clear day! It had snowed the night before and quite cold but absolutely gorgeous! Glad we had dressed warmly! But there was an indoor viewing area! This was our very first sightseeing stop and instantly out popped a wallaby! On top of Mount Wellington in the snow! I considered ourselves truly... More

Make sure to pick a day that it's not in the clouds! It had snowed a light dusting the night before so we checked to see if it was open first. Beautiful views. Even got to see a wallaby in its natural habitat. A must do if you visit Tasmania.

Gives you a wonderful overview of Hobart, such a picturesque city! The 360deg view left us gob-smacked. No climbing involved, the drive and car park are both at the top.

This is a marvel of a mountain with sweeping views over Hobart. We had time to kill before our flight and took the opportunity to drive up the 12km winding, twisty one lane road. Temperature do drop so do keep warm jumpers just incase.

Lovely view from the top of Mount Wellington. A word to the wise though - it had snowed and was super cold when we were there so come prepared. Great view and excellent pictures. Don't expect to find coffee at the top of the mountain unless you bring it yourself!

Gorgeous scenic views, of course. It was a clear and sunshiny day when we headed up the mountain, which is a beautiful drive in itself, but it started snowing while we were at the lookout! So, expect crazy changes in weather up there. It's also very, very windy so rug up and make sure to tuck your scarf in, hold... More

The top for views, but walk Fern Glade just before the tavern on the way up. The top can quickly cloud over, so stop at some of the viewing spots on the way up or down. Enclosed shelter and separate toilets at the top.

When in Hobart this is a must do. The views are to die for and the air so clean just magic. Great views for photos and to take in the scenery.

20 km from the Hobart CBD, the drive up Mt Wellington is a good morning or afternoon activity while holidaying in Hobart. The day we went it was snowing and we could only get to The Springs (about 4 km up). We had the option of trekking to the summit, which the well signposted trail listed as 1 hour relatively... More

Looking down on the city and all the surrounding suburbs and then beyond to the east coast and to the North, and down to Bruny Island, one sees where one is about to head to, why it looks so different in each and every place and how exciting the prospects of experiencing all These different areas is going to be....
