It’s free. It’s good exercise walking up a plethora of steps (there is an AED along the way if it’s too taxing!) and you reach a spectacular 360 panoramic view from the highest point On KI. Good way to spend half an hour once you’ve exhausted all other entertainment options.

Prospect Hill has one of the best views on Kangaroo Island - north, south, east and west. We had a spectacular close encounter with two eagles at the top. There are quite a few stairs but you can take your time and it is well worth it.

Fantastic views after climbing the 500 steps. It's not a difficult climb and you can take it slow- great views from all of the landings. The views from all angles are breathtaking but I particularly liked the view of Pelican Lagoon. Worth a stop!!

When you look at the staircase leading up to the hill, and you think gosh, so many stairs………. Just do it, you will be glad you did, it isn’t as many steps as it looks! and the views are great! You get to see Kangaroo Island from all angles, good place to take photo’s. Large carpark, no toilet facilities.

Wow! Yes my legs were burning as I climbed up but when we got to the top, the view was breathtaking. Take your time as it really is a hike and no coffee shop on top. He he. Just remember once you get to the top, you have to come down. Loved this!

We came across this place when we were driving to a destination. We decided to come back to climb it. It was a great view from the top. Worth the climb up. You should climb it if you are a fit male or female youngster.
Enjoy it and it is free admission.

From the council website...
"A section of the Prospect Hill Lookout steps has failed and requires the walkway to be completely closed to the public until further notice. Please advise visitors that the lookout is closed and that they should not attempt to scale the Hill which is steep and unsafe"

Yes, definitely worth walking up to soak in the view & burn off some calories 😉
Was interesting reading all the information at the top. We saw some fascinating birds too! 🦅 Easy parking at the bottom. From there we went to Pennington Beach which is a stone throw away.

The steps and the quality of workmanship were excellent, it's a generally easy walk with plenty of rest points on the way up. Well worth it when you reach the top.

Reopened in September 2019 and has a great new staircase. It’s probably about 20 sets of stairs but very easy to climb to see the stunning view.
