We have to mention the Ranger here, a really genuine and informative man who does everthing himself and still finds time to make folks feel welcome. The SA parks people are lucky to have someone like this on board. Our compliments. This is a great little spot which gives a good insight into the history of the early lighthouse keepers... More

We were fortunate, as we arrived 10 minutes before Mick was doing his tour through the lighthouse. Wow, what a dynamo this man is. He presented so much interesting information in rapid fire style. It left one gob smacked. Do you know why some lighthouses are round and others can be square? I did not know but Mick gave us... More

One of the great "tour drives" on the Island, the trip to Cape Borda Lightstation traverses differing landscapes, all spectacular in their own way. We were fortunate that the dirt road to the lightstation (about 40km each way) had been graded two days earlier, however there were parts that were very corrugated. A tough 4WD would be advantageous. Mick, the... More

This is as far as you can go on the Island, it is desolate and have good tires and preferably 4WD, the road will beat you to death but it's worth the trip. Mick, the lone employee is a wealth of knowledge and it's the only lighthouse on the island that you have access to. There are accommodations there but... More

Visited today and the view was stunning, the staff are lovely but the 37km of corrugated dirt road (* 2 there and back) was more stress on my 2WD car than I had anticipated. We met a lot of other cars on the road too going at similar speeds (averaging 20-30km per hour). I felt there were insufficient signs or... More

Extremely informative, Mick was inclusive and age appropriate for the children, and a brilliant speaker. This is a fantastic place to visit.

This is most definitely worth the dirt road to get there. Mick is a man who loves his job, and it shows with wonderful use of humour throughout the tour. We did the 12:30 tour with the firing of the cannon included.
