The spaceship is looking a bit worse for wear, but then it was designed and built to last the filming of the movie, and given the harsh conditions is holding up well considering. It's still pretty cool to see what a movie prop looks like having seen the movie. It is hard to miss passing in the main street and car parking to stop and take photos is easy to do.

The current condition of this movie prop from Van Diesel's Pitch Black is really shabby because Coober Pedy do experience very strong winds. Nonetheless, the item is unmistakable when you visit Umuna opal shop. Good for side stepping to take photos

You won’t miss this spaceship while you are walking on the Main Street. It makes you feel like you are on Mars, love Coober Pedy!

Stopped for quick photo of this monstrosity. Thought it was from beyond the thunderdome -mad max. (Whoops🤫). Like many things around Coober Pedy it looks so out of place. Quirky to say the least.

It’s the shell of a spaceship abandoned in a wasteland. No effort to make something out of it, present it in an interesting way etc. Just dumped there, which honestly is sort of the whole town’s vibe...

If you watched the movie Pitch Black, then its a fun glimpse behind the scenes, as you can view the inside construction. It needs a bit of attention, a cover might be a good idea in the long run, but an interesting footnote for the day. Zero cost, why wouldn't you stop and have a gander.

After being told what it is it is interesting to see what it is made of. The site is resting in a car-park off of the main street

It’s located right in the town center, IGA supermarket and Opal store right next to it. Great place and vibe to take some nice photos. There is even a overall view lookout nearby. So much a things to do while visiting the town.
Note: there is a “Do Not Climb” sign on the spaceship now.

Just a ruin sitting around and strangely not out of place in this landscape. Not a destination in itself but worth getting out of the car to check out. Lots of movies have been shot in this area.
