Such a remarkable church which is so well designed and feels very peaceful. Please turn off the lights when you leave and enjoy!

Well worth a visit!

The church is quite a way out of the town but well worth a visit. The structure itself is amazing carved out of the rock. There are sculptures and colourful stained glass.

AMAZING

This Church must be seen while in Coober Pedy as it is stunning. Entry is free and parking is available on site. The church has the most beautiful stained glass windows and is one of the most memorable churches we have seen anywhere and what makes it unique is that it is underground.

Never Seen Anything Like This

Photos do not do this underground church justice. It is dug down into the earth rather than back. So when you enter you walk down a sloped pathway to the below level. On viewing that level, and walking back up you vere to the right and you come to a platform where you can overlook where you just came from. It is so hard to explain the beauty of this church. Lovely stained glass and stone carvings. There is a $5 donation entrance fee, which is so worth it.

A surprise find.

A beautiful church of the Orthodox faith. It reveals the history of the current and early miners of the Serbian faith. It is on two levels and features the traditional and colourful icons. Well worth a visit.

A little way out of town, however not too difficult to find and worth the trip. The most special of all 3 underground churches in Coober Pedy.

A most interesting sight and very informative read about its history as it is fairly recent having been built in 1993 with beautiful leadlight windows. A great view from the inside balcony

I have read a few reviews about this church so decided to see for myself and I loved it. There is a $5 donation on entry, but that is entirely up to you. I never mind helping those who help others. If you wish to light a candle, this is $2 per candle. I sat and enjoyed the peace and listened to the wind howling outside as we were hit by a dust storm - we felt so safe inside in gods hands. It really is worth the visit and as I have seen many churches throughout Europe, I love the more humble ones.
