The library is a must see - it doesn't take much time, just a quick walkthrough to appreciate the old architecture and feel like you're in a bygone era!

Went into the library to check out the very large Christmas tree, but the highlight of my entire trip to Adelaide was being able to pick up old books in this library, open them, and take in the smell of old books. Triggered great childhood memories!

The State Library of South Australia (SLSA) is a repository of the state's history. South Australia was developed under the Wakefield Scheme, which was a form of free enterprise colonisation. South Australia has a very interesting history which is well worth researching. The SLSA is located in a heritage building; if you want help finding something, ask the reference desk.

It looks like and feels like Australia's version of visiting the Book of Kells at Trinity College in Dublin. It is a beautiful place to see.

Ok, I admit it. I’m a massive bookworm. But, even if you are nor even into books, just come to marvel at the architecture. Previous poster mentions Harry Potter and it does have a slight feel of the hog warts about it.

Visited the library as part of a walking tour and then went back again to view in more depth. The old library with its lofted ceilings and wooden book cases was amazing and below this was many alcoves featuring the history of Adelaide.

We had seen a photo of the Mortlock wing as we were passing and stopped in to ask where it was. We were directed to the right area and were amazed. Such a beautiful library. A must see for free In Adelaide.
