Port Adelaide sure know how to put on a show, I think that might be half the reason their diehard supporters go every week and that’s a great thing!
I found it a little tricky finding my seat but staff were happy to help.
Food and beverages are extremely expensive and stalls aren’t manned with enough staff meaning long queues but I did go on the busiest night Adelaide Oval sees during the AFL season.
Staff were very curt with patrons refusing to wear a mask when having left their seat which was good to see as social distancing was impossible.

My first visit to Adelaide and AO was on my list of places to visit. Booking a tour was easy through the website and meeting place was the South Gate.
Bob was the volunteer guide for the tour, it was very informative and interesting to find out about the history of the oval especially with the names assigned to the grandstands, bars and locations around the oval - Victor Richardson was one talented sportsman in the 1920’s!
Was able to see inside the old scoreboard, the history of the fig trees, change rooms, media centre, and the Don Bradman collection at the end of the tour.
Highly recommend going on the guided tour, can’t wait to revisit the Oval for an AFL game or other event in the future!

Travelled to Adelaide for my first visit to the famous oval for a football match. There were long queues outside the ground with covid restrictions, but the flow was good. Once inside, the setup was very impressive but our seating was at the ground level which makes it difficult to tell what is happening at the other end. The price of $89 for a basic seat was also extremely expensive. It was well worth a visit to see the oval from the inside but wouldn't go again due to the price and viewing options.

Have been coming here to watch football since 2014 and love the experience. The service at the bar in the Magarey Room though leaves a lot to be desired. I stood there on Saturday night in an after match function with 5 people & 4 bar staff, only 2 of whom were actually serving. I had to actually say something to be served. And then, asking for orange juice, the staff member had no idea if they had any. Only after a 5 minute scramble did they find any! Not good enough when you are charging premium prices for poor service leaves a nasy taste in the mouth.

A classic oval with good presence and nice surrounding gardens. Don Bradman's statue along with other famous South Aussie sportsman and philanthropists makes for a must do circumference walk. Bradman's private collection rooms inside is a must see! Very good stands and playing surface when we visited in November. Well done Adelaide!

The hill is great. And I love the old scoreboard. The atmosphere here is so incredible. They follow government Covid policy (I don't personally agree with the policy, but they follow what they are instructed to). The prices of the food and beverages is just so insanely high that I have to remove a star. And getting your own stuff in is a hassle, although dependant on type of product, packaging seals and packaging type you can get food and beverages in. All in all a great South Australian experience, you should definitely attend a match here. Just expect to pay a heap if you want to eat or drink.

Entered this impressive venue for the first time to attend a concert with an international artist. Impressed by the modern facilities and proximity to accomodation in Adelaide CBD. If you stay in North Adelaide, you can walk to and from the venue, or even in the CBD, you can catch a bus. My only wish was that I had bought seats more central to the stage, as ours were on the side of the oval, a couple of rows from the front, and although expensive, and near the stage end, we felt a million miles from the artist, just because it's such a big venue. The lower side seating would be perfect for a cricket or football game though. The sound at this venue is very good for an outdoor venue though - has the reputation of being one of the best in Australia.

Wonderful setting to sit and have a meal or a drink overlooking the Adelaide Oval. If you are visiting from country or interstate I would recommend a stay at the Oval Hotel where you have secure o/night parking below the Hotel.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating and the rooms are first class.

Went to Adelaide oval twice in 3 days. I paid $110 for a seat in the stand on level 1 which was half the price of a year's membership. The view was excellent and the facilities ie food and beverages were plentiful and efficiently run. There are also plenty of toilets. Entry and exit to the ground was relativly simple.
Preferred this experience to visiting the new Perth stadium.
The only criticism is difficulty seeing the play at the opposite end of the ground when at ground level seating.

What a great location with views of the Parkland and Cathedral from your room and the Majestic Adelaide Oval Arena from the dining areas.
The calming tones of grey and hint of green in our room plus an extremely large and comfy bed made it a very relaxing stay. Lovely bathroom with a fantastic shower.
We also highly recommend the food at Bespoke .
What a great asset to sport in Adelaide. Best place to stay for footy cricket or concerts.

Top level half forward flank of southern side near the open end of the ground. Enter through that open end rather than on the wing as the queues are shorter.

Hi, I'm catching the cricket on 6 and 7 December. I'm from Sydney so would like to know the stands where the sun is harsh. Prefer to book tickets where I get shade for most of the day. I hear that the Eastern stand is pretty bad. Anything else I should know ?
thanks

We visited from Perth for an AFL game and sat in the eastern stand from about 3:30pm in the 500's seating - excellent viewing I might add. Our viewing wasn't affected by the sun though. Its a beautiful stadium. Maybe contact AO directly and ask. They also do a great Roof Climb if you're interested in that kind of stuff.

What section and row where the seats, Im on the same boat and dont want to waste my money if they are no good. Please answer
Written July 4, 2018
We were in the top row in the general admission, the view was great. I do not think there would be a bad seat anywhere
Written July 13, 2018
Sorry for late reply, I guess so. Im not sure whether you can take food on the tour.

As a first time visitor to Adelaide Oval - and hopefully for the Ashes Test December 2017 - does anywhere in the new Eastern Stand give any shade for the afternoon? Is the Riverbank Stand in the shade for the afternoon? What time at start of December does the Eastern stand go into the shade? Do the backs of the tiers get shade from the tiers above?
If you cannot reserve a seat, do you just get in early and put your bags on seats?
Written April 8, 2017
Hi there. I think your best bet might be to contact the SACA for that one. You can contact them here (08) 8300 3800. I am sure they will tell when the shade comes out.

Hi all
I'm looking to get tickets for the ashes, just wondering where is the best section for a couple of English fans, aged between 25-58. Definitely not looking for an alcohol free zone! What are the cheap $30 tickets on the grass mound like?
Any help would be top.
Cheers

Simple mate - THE HILL just under the scoreboard !! It is perhaps the most atmospheric part of the ground and many a member of the Barmy Army has been there and can tell a tale !

first time visitor to Adelaide - going with my son to watch the cricket test - where is best area to stay in so have easy access to public transport to get to stadium but also get to enjoy the city?
Written October 20, 2015
Yep you can stay in Glenelg. Its a beachside suburb and you can stay at the Grand. Its about a 20 min tram ride into the city. You can also stay at one or 2 of the city hotels also.

If you are 95 where do you get food and drink!!! How do you leave the ground safely without waiting 45 minutes till the crowd goes. Where do you sit to eat the overpriced food and drink which is very small variety in the western stand. Where is the disability accessable bar where you can sit away from the wet cold weather! How do I get out of the western stand if there is an emergency. How do I get help if someone trips and falls on the bridge with so many people hemming you in and clowns jumping over and around barriers. How do you walk up the broken and uneven footpath up King William Street in safety. Where do you go to get out of the bad weather if you are on the terraces( at West lakes there were the tunnels with the radiators ALL Around the ground.) Why is there no specific disabled queue at the Southern gate I travel with a 95 year old father who has an Adelaide oval ticket and I have a crows ticket so we can't get reserved seats together.
We can't sit in the allocated disabled seats on the terrace as it is definitely not healthy for such an elderly man. He has shared the ticket with my brother since the inauguration of the crows. A Pretty poor situation. And please don't blame the Crows I blame the Oval organisers. This day and age not to consider the elderly and the disabled is an atrocious omission.
