We were looking for somewhere to have lunch and decided to try Chinatown. Lucky for us we found Star House in the main street almost opposite the Central Market. Even luckier we found a table, this place does an unbelievable trade. We ended up there twice during our stay and both times, weekend & mid-week we got a table but it was very busy and lots of Chinese clients. Service was friendly and fast, great choice of meals. Wish we had something faintly similar in Darwin, where we have a huge Chinese community. Greatly recommend & will definitely go back if we get back to Adelaide.

A short mall next to central market- at 6pm on a Wednesday it was like a ghost town- only a few restaurants were open and not many people around. The street behind- Gouger (I think) had many more restaurants, people and more atmosphere! The actual bit within the gates is small and underwhelming.
Lots of great restaurants in surrounding streets.

Had to visit Chinatown. We usually visit Chinatown whenever we travel. It was what you’d expect however I was surprised at how small it was. Not all the restaurants were opened for lunch but we had a great yum cha there. I was looking forward to a short soup but couldn’t find a place open that sold it.
Also I was disappointed because central market was closed on Sunday? It’s closed Sunday and Monday.
In any case Chinatown is worth going.

Right next to the Adelaide Central Markets. Very busy place on a Thursday night, Surprised how small the street was. Lots of busy Chinese restaurants, however, difficulty finding places for solo eaters.

Not the best, some of it currently under construction but it has no Chinatown buzz to it.
Really just a few Chinese restaurant in a street and they have called it China town!!!!
Located next to central markets so easy to get to.
I would give it a miss.

It's not Chinatown in any large and famous city. Nonetheless, it's worth a look. There are good restaurants, grocercy shops and a food court serving outstanding dishes. It is conveniently located adjacent to the Adelaide Central Market

Chinatown in Adelaide is a lot smaller than those in other capitals, never the less it remains a strong cultural precinct. The Asian grocery stores here are vast with a wide range of produce and products. Great fresh meat and fresh veggie outlets. Small sized quality restaurants abound close by, which offer much better and much more authentic fare than the nearby 'mall'.

A very nice place. It is located in close proximity to everything in Adelaide. There is the tram only a few minutes walk away, and bus stops all the way down Gouger and Grote street, making it very accessible. The local businesses are great, and all of the people are so friendly and helpful. The food is also amazing there, and just like in China! The area is decorated very nicely, and has a very nice overall feel to it. I totally recommend a visit.

The vibrant Chinatown is a must do just near Central Markets. The food courts are abound, variety shops and all sorts of knick-knacks and souvenirs that any tourist, or local for that matter would want to experience. Go there, visit. Its fantastic.
