Good for shopping. Many kind of items available for sale from food, garments, souvenir and entertainment outlet. Just be careful of the location where you want to smoke. Some of the small street are smoke free.

Lots of laneways connecting to Rundle Mall to make it more interesting. The usual shops but easily accessible with this Mall access as only pedestrians. Lots of interesting coffee shops in the area too.

Rundle Street has to be one of this city’s best streets, buzzing with life and vitality: its all here...a plethora of eating places, from high end to cheaper cafes, hotels and bars offering quality food and service, brand name retail outlets (alongside quaint smaller shops), spas and fitness centres, hair dressers and the like.

Whatever your food tastes you are sure to find something to tantalise your palate. The variety of pizzeria, restaurants and cafes represent most popular eating styles, with Asian being the most prevalent. Wine bars and coffee shops abound along this street and its laneways.

The clothing and shoe retail stores are interesting and bargains can often be found. Sym Choons has been successfully trading here forever. During my youth it was THE place to buy fireworks and Chinese artefacts. Today it is renamed, Miss Gladys Sym Choon focusing on women’s and men’s fashion, and like most shops along this street, changes its window displays on an almost weekly basis.

The Palace Cinema Complex is also here and boasts Adelaide’s largest screen, the Eximax . This centre has ten cinemas screening foreign and art films, as well as mainstream movies.

Then there are the little side streets with a multitude of offerings, and towards the end of this street, East End Market precinct with more retail including wine bars, cafes and restaurants. The little French restaurant, Hey Jupiter is a standout, along with the Oostende Belgian Beer Cafe.

Rundle Street East, from Hungry Jacks to the start of the old East End Market facade, is barely a ten minute walk and contains, above the shop fronts, reminders of the past showcasing still some of Adelaide’s original, older and interesting architectural styles.

And just around the corner are the East Parklands, the home of the Adelaide Fringe Festival each February and also the Oyster Bar, Golden Boy Thai restaurant, and the Adelaide Botanic Garden, just across North Terrace.

So there is much to see along this street and its immediate surrounds. I thoroughly recommend a leisurely stroll along this street to you.

In walking around downtown Adelaide my natural progression was to walk up Rundle Street and enjoy the historic architecture of its buildings, admire the many shops with attractive displays, and finally, to have something to eat in one of the several cafes. Rundle Street represented the essence of lively and graceful Adelaide.

Found this place by accident wandering around Adelaide one night (I say "night" because it was after 6 pm, but it was still light outside). Except for the far East end of it, "Rundle Mall" can be very quiet (few people) at night, and though an Aussie colleague assured me that all of Adelaide was safe, one night I did see a minor fist fight between locals, and another night I was bothered by a local begger while withdrawing money from an ATM. Otherwise, interesting, highly eclectic architecture on the walking street, a couple of street performers mid way, and excellent restaurant options (and "vibe") on the far end of "the mall" (that stay open more days/hours than elsewhere in the area).

Rundle Street East is great with the Palace Nova cinema, great laneway bars, some excellent restaurants (some average) and shopping. My favourite place to socialise in Adelaide.

Loved this part of town and even better during the Fringe Festival, so many people and so much vitality and character. Far better than the superficiality of the nearby Rundle Mall.
Wonderful shops and restaurants.

There's a few cafe's and fashion shops you can lose yourself in on the quiet end of Rundle Street. It comes alive during Festivals, definitely a place to be at night to meet friends for a drink at one of the bars in the East End.
