The claims it’s a short and easy walk on boardwalks is misleading at best.
To get to the start of the “short walk” requires climbing a series of steep uneven stone & sand staircases. The short walk to the beach is 750m each way (after the stairs) and while it is board walk it isn’t flat but a series of up and down stairs that lead to the back of a very soft sanded shade less beach. I had my 2 1/2 year old and it took us 25 mins to walk the boardwalk.
There’s no shade or shelter on the beach (which was cold, windy & raining when we went but it was winter) so we stayed <10 minutes then had to carry my exhausted kid back to the other beach where the boats pick up & drop off.
It’s really not worth it.

We extended our day trip from Hamilton Island to the Inlet. We were dropped in the shallows which were really warm and there were lots of rays swimming around. The trek up to the 3 viewing platforms was through bush and there were lots of golden orb spiders to be seen and lizards.
Take plenty of bottled water as it’s a decent walk but the views are epic.
We were stunned by the views and couldn’t take enough photos. The viewing platforms give a view over the whole inlet. Probably the most beautiful place I’ve ever been, totally worth the journey from the UK.

The title says it all - Hill Inlet is amazing from every angle... seriously. We got a package with Sailing-Whitsundays.com where we did a scenic flight and a boat tour, so we literally got the best of both worlds.

The view of Hill Inlet is very different at different tides. So if there is a certain view you want (i.e. more sand than water or vice-versa) check a tide chart, or ask when you book. The middle of the tide is probably your best option so you get a great mix of both. It also means you have the most beautiful colours when you fly over the Great Barrier Reef too!!

The hike to Hill Inlet isn't very long, it's about 1.3km return, so about a 20 minute walk each way. It's not too challenging and you can take you time :)

Took an all-day zodiac boat / snorkel tour from Airlie Beach. Got dropped off on the opposite side of the island, did about a 15min easy hike across the island to get to the lookout point at Hill Inlet, and it was incredible. I've been literally all over the world and this spot has to be at least on my top 3 most beautiful locations i've seen. An absolute must if you are visiting Airlie Beach or the Whitsunday's, or even NE Australia.

Lovely walk through the bush to one of the most breathtaking views I have seen in my life. Best to go with Whitehaven Xpress as they give you the most amazing commentary.

Overwhelming snorkling - greatest beach ever we have visited so far. Could have easily spend days there, just swimming in cristal clear waters, watching stingers, laying in the sand...

this is a must visit when you visit whiteheaven, its white sand and dreamy outlook bears more whiteheaven characteristics than the whiteheaven beach
