The Passage Peak climb is definitely a massive challenge that requires a half decent fitness level to tackle... The climb is steep, lots and lots and lots of stairs but just when you think you have had enough you reach the top and the absolutely...More

Steep climb, lots of sweating, many of those "I'm pretty sure I can't go any further" moments. But we persisted, and were rewarded with an amazing sunset! The trip back down, in the dark, was a little creepy with lots of forest animal noises and...More

Not for the unfit, this walk was a great exercise. Didn't take us too far from resort central as the crow flies, but it takes time to climb so steeply. The reward is the incredible views and photo opportunities of Hamilton and surrounding islands. Take...More

We done this walk early in the morning to miss the heat in the afternoon. The views from the top are spectacular and was worth the hour walk to the top (would of been quicker if not for the two kids) we took some amazing...More

We loved the hike to Passage Peak and we did it at sunrise twice. The first time we just missed the beginning of the sunrise by a few minutes so we hiked it a second time. Hiking in the dark is a bit intense. Beautiful...More

A great way to check out the surrounding islands and down towards Catseye Beach. The walk to the 190 metre high Passage Peak is well worth the effort. You need to be in reasonable fitness although it's not a race so take ya time and...More

Walk to the end of the beach where the track starts and go from there. Depending on where you leave from only adds around 1km if easy walking to the track

If you are really fit and prepared for a steep stepped track at the end then it’s possible. I don’t think this 44 year unfit mummy could but if you want to and are fit it’s no harm setting off and having a go!

Sadly our 17 day trip to Oz has come to an end. Now we are back in Chicago and it was a balmy 43 degrees this morning. :( As part of our 17 day adventure we were lucky enough to have 3 wonderful nights on HI. Hope this information is helpful! Airport: Our luggage was brought over to us outside on a cart and we just picked it up right off the cart. We had booked the Beachfront Fragapani so we were greeted at the airport by a buggy and whisked away to get a overview of the island and tour...More

Thanks for this review jeichmann21. We are visiting Aus next July/Aug and the only thing I am not sure about is whether to have 3 nights in Airlie or on Hamilton. I am beginning to favour Hamilton and from your comments about Frangipani this could be perfect.....who did you book through? and which apartment were you in on which level. Thanks for any comments Nellymo

We have just returned from 5 nights in HI. Our stay was greatly enhanced due to the great advice of Abbey and Airlian. We had a terrific time and would definately return if given the chance. The service from every person that we dealt with on the whole of the Island was excellent. If you are looking for an easy to get to destination that has some commercial activity then HI could be for you. We did not spend a fortune on food. We loved the Manta Ray Cafe best of all.. sitting outside with the...More
