A gorgeous spot down a 4WD track in the southern inland area of Fraser Island. The water is completely clear! A quick drive from Central Station, and I believe there are fenced areas for picnics to stop the dingoes from coming in. Great for a swim in the warmer weather, or just as lovely as the late afternoon when I... More

This beautiful lake is a treasure that is worth every effort to preserve its natural beauty for others to see with strict controls in place.

We spent some time at the end of June at Lake McKenzie on Fraser island as part of our drive around Australia. The sand is wonderful, the beach areas are pristine, the water is cool and refreshing and there were actually a fair number of people around while we were there.

I have travelled a lot and been to some amazing beaches all over the world but Lake Mackenzie is definitely one of the most beautiful. The water is crystal clear and the sand is so soft and white. Apparently it is 98% silica according to our guide. Good place for swimming and cooling off as, due to it being a... More

As part of a day trip we experienced Lake McKenzie mid afternoon in winter. It was glorious place, clear fresh water and white fine sand with the sun making the water glisten. The water was cold but we swam for half an hour and felt fantastic. Revitalised after the bumpy sand tracks.

This lake is absolutely gorgeous! It is difficult to believe that it is fresh water because of the variations in color of the water. Coming from a state with more than 10,000 lakes, this is by far the most beautiful I have seen. This is a must see when traveling to Fraser Island!!

Just so beautiful! On a sunny day even more so but well worth the visit just for photos even if it's not sunny! We went as part of a 3 day tour to Fraser Island. Sadly you can only stay one hour as the national park have said, but it works well I think as when you visit it isn't... More

Fabulous place to swim or sun bath. Bring your GoPro and make incredible underwater shots - they turn out so nice! Because it is 100% fresh water it is colder than normal but once you get in it's perfect. Loved this place!
