The drive up Mount Spec Rd towards Paluma is worth it just as a scenic drive alone, but Little Crystal Creek and McCllenads Lookout make it all the more worthwhile.

Little Crystal Creek has a large carpark directly across from the grounds and amenities, where you can access lots of trails out to Big Crystal Creek and Cloudy Creek Falls via long walks.

Little Crystal Creek runs under a bridge which sets a dramatic scene for these flowing waters. Pathway gets you right to the creek bed, its well worth the stop.

Worth a drive out, but take care on the narrow roads. Reminds me of Hyde Park, Hartley NSW with the rock formation and cool pools. Take an esky and just relax. The only thing I would not do is go back in January as it was 39 degrees that day.
Beautiful

Located in Paluma Range NP, Little Crystal Creek is a lovely spot half way up the range to Paluma Village.

It is not a difficult drive but the road is narrow and winding, so requires some care: sealed all the way.

The historic bridge, Little Crystal Creek and the picnic and day use areas make for a great visit. There is also a campground for overnight stays: online bookings are required.

A little drive North of Townsville and you will spend a great day BBQing and Swimming at these watering holes. There is lots of parking and good facilities there. Every effort has been made to provide seating etc, whilst not upsetting the natural environment. It was very clean and liter free. The stone bridge itself is a beautiful thing to look at. Great Day out

Lovely falls, you can swim here. An historic bridge is there too. But the road is just scary. It is long, narrow, takes ages, single lane in some areas. Do NOT take your caravan up here. Dangerous. Thank goodness we left ours at the CrystalCreek van park near the highway!

A beautiful spot just up into Paluma. There is a short drive up the windy road before you reach the parking area.
There are a few spots where you can find a rock to sit on or get into the water at Little Crystal. Great for jumping in at the lower part.
Access is via a few steep steps, no problem for most but may be an issue for less able people and certainly wheelchair users. You can still view the waterfall from the bridge though and it’s well worth it even if you’re not swimming and just out for a drive for the day.
There are BBQ and toilet facilities. The only problem we had was ants on the picnic tables. So many ants! But it is to be expected really.
It is a short drive back down the range to Big crystal which is also well worth a visit if you’re in the area and then you can’t miss Frosty Mango’s on the way out!

Crystal Creek National Park is about a 40min drive north of Townsville. The lower section is called Paradise pools for that reason. When the water is flowing well after good rain it is paradise. A beautiful big swimming hole and a good picnic area and camp ground with bbq tables and toilets. Only complaint would be there is not much shade even though there are lots of trees so I recommend you bring your own. Further up stream around 10km up the Paluma range is another beautiful swimming hole with lovely falls a historic bridge and picnic area. There is no camp ground at this site. Well worth the trip out of town on a hot clear day.

It's around 45 minutes from Townsville to Crystal Creek (Paluma). The road up to Paluma is steep and very windy in parts (and doesn't warrant the speed some people are doing) but you are rewarded with some amazing views as you travel up. Little Crystal Creek has car parking facilities and it is a short walk down to the historic bridge nestled amongst lush scenery. Places to swim are located close to the bridge and it's easy to access. Definitely worth the drive up even just for the scenery, a swim in a natural location just tops of the trip!!!! From here you can keep heading up to the town of Paluma (there is a coffee shop but it was closed on the day I visited). Downside (for me) was that there are no pets allowed at the waterhole as it is part of the national park.

An incredible historical paradise that is accessible by car with car parking area and restrooms. Steps lead down to the crystal clear waters and up around the rocks to the waterfalls. Just a short detour off the Bruce Highway takes you to this fabulous location.

It takes 45min to reach Crystal Creek from Townsville and it is worth it.

We directly headed to Big Crystal Creek and had a swim there.
The water is cold but it is so clear that it is wonderful!
