The three-kilometer strip of golden sand between Surfers Paradise and the Pacific Ocean is Australia's iconic beach, a postcard-perfect locale that conjures up 'paradise' to millions. Throughout the year, our beach welcomes swimmers, joggers, surfers and strollers from around the Gold Coast, around Australia and around the World. There are a few simple things you can do to ensure that your day at Surfers Paradise beach is a safe and happy one. Always swim between the red and yellow flags. If the flags aren't up, it may not safe to swim, so always ask a lifeguard if it's safe to swim if you cannot see the flags. Check for additional beach signage, as this may change every day. Read the safety warnings. Check with a lifeguard about beach and water conditions if you're not sure it's safe. Put your hand up and stay calm if you get in trouble in the water. Stay sun safe: Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat, seek shade and slide on sunglasses. Leave valuables at home or in your apartment.

We enjoyed going to Surfers Paradise beach. The waves were good. The sand was fine and soft. The beach was also very clean. There were always lifeguards there so we felt very safe swimming there. The water was crystal clear. It is one of our favourite family holiday destinations in Australia.

Love Surfers Paradise Beach - Cavill Avenue and surrounding area. While it can get quite busy with crowds the atmosphere and energy is electric! Great got families who want to go out and enjoy a bit of night life. Shops open til late nightly and lots of restaurants to choose from as well as fast food outlets!

Blue sky, quite windy day, lots of people in the surf between the lifeguard flags. Strong rip advised and marine stinger warning. Some people drifting out of the flag area were encouraged by bullhorn message not to drift out of the area. People just kept doing it, till a life guard got on his surfboard and paddled to them and... More

Swim between the flags and respect the ocean and you'll have a great day out. Shame so many people leave their rubbish behind though.

Very nice beach, but quite crowded. Not surprising considering it's practically in the city. I suggest going a couple km down the coast to a quieter area. This seemed like a party beach to me.

Having been directed to go here we had a lovely evening strolling along the esplanade, taking our time looking at all the little market stallls. The kids loved picking up little knick knack things to take home as souvenirs.

Lovely Beach plenty of sand and salt water, waves could have been better but this does change on a day to day basis so I don't think this is a common problem.Sand texture very good although it does tend to stick to the feet, if you are getting into a car after the beach it's well worth dusting your feet... Nice beach, but not the best for surfing. Great if you wanna see the "Wanna" people. Nice enough but way overrated as the best spot, but then I guess it is up to you what you want to see. It's the "Silicon and Botox" Beach!

So many people visited this beach just because of where Surfers is. So many international visitors enjoying our coast, fantastic! The water temp and conditions were perfect when my family visited, there are many flagged areas along the Surfers stretch :) Just a different experience to be swimming and jumping waves while admiring the city skyline, definitely an experience not...
