The three-kilometer strip of golden sand between Surfers Paradise and the Pacific Ocean is Australia's iconic beach, a postcard-perfect locale that conjures up 'paradise' to millions. Throughout the year, our beach welcomes swimmers, joggers, surfers and strollers from around the Gold Coast, around Australia and around the World. There are a few simple things you can do to ensure that your day at Surfers Paradise beach is a safe and happy one. Always swim between the red and yellow flags. If the flags aren't up, it may not safe to swim, so always ask a lifeguard if it's safe to swim if you cannot see the flags. Check for additional beach signage, as this may change every day. Read the safety warnings. Check with a lifeguard about beach and water conditions if you're not sure it's safe. Put your hand up and stay calm if you get in trouble in the water. Stay sun safe: Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat, seek shade and slide on sunglasses. Leave valuables at home or in your apartment.

The beach was such a beauty with its wide shore and long stretch of sand. The sand was cream-colored and was super fine like iodized salt. There were lots of birds flying around. But the water was too cold for me. Haha! It's a great place to unwind and relax after a day of touring Gold Coast.

The beach is flat and wide so a lot of people can get their space they need. It looked really clean and refreshing. We visited the night markets along the promenade and managed to buy a few things especially jewellery. Then we walked through Cavill Ave and around the streets and everything's open and buzzing with life. It's a great... More

Look I get it, the beach looks cool with the tall building next to it BUT it's busy and the beach is clearly dragged every morning to keep it looking clean. Since it's so big there are very small swimmable areas, and it's usually far windier here than further south. It's not the kind of place to relax. I think... More

I love visiting here, it's fun and exciting. The sandy beach goes on forever and the water is beautiful. There are often LOTS of people though. It's not always my cup of tea, but it has a distinct vibe and feel. There are lots of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops close by, so you can go for a dip, then... More

Take some time to pick a really good lunch and then take it down to the beach as it is only 10m from the main shopping strip. Or, if you're after a sunset/sunrise walk either pick up an icecream from Ben&Jerry's (or for the morning) a smoothie along the promenade and enjoy the sand and beautiful skyline views.

Beautiful white sandy beach. Markets were on a few times a week while we stayed there so something to walk around and look at other than shops.

Gorgeous beach. Bathrooms clean and plentiful. Sand like sugar. Esplanade long and wide for walks. Lots of showers.
